 Audubon via Brainard Lake
Took a shot at climbing Mt. Audubon today. Ultimately failed at the objective because of heavy snow accumulation.

I left Boulder (I go to CU) around 5:30AM and got to the winter gate around 6:30AM. There were a handful of cars already parked there. From the winter gate it's roughly 2.5 miles to the Beaver Creeks Trail System.

Here you can see Brainard Lake is partially melted.

Still lots of snow on the road, this is between Brainard Lake and the Mitchell Lake parking lot.

Beaver Creek Trailhead, also covered in lots of snow.

Postholing was definitely a problem. But the worst problem was the visibility of the trail. The best I could do was follow footsteps in the snow that are sometimes barely there. Eventually I realized that I ended up on the south side of Audubon, which means I'm not on the Mt. Audubon trail which is on the east ridge. I know it's possible to climb Audubon on the south side but I felt that it wasn't safe under these conditions.

Thanks for the update. I have been wondering what the conditions were like in that area.
