Wrecked car near Kilpacker TH
My Husband and I decided to backpack in to summit a little earlier than normal, we left Thornton and got to the Kilpacker TH on Sunday afternoon about 5 p.m. The first 3.2 mile was a breeze we pitch ours tent and relax for evening, one thing I would recommend for those would like to backpacking in: There are great camp sites at the cairned left turn (route description photo #6, about 3.5 miles in) on the right hand side you can see waterfall from there. Other reports describe good camp sites before this point, but we didn't see any!?!??!?

We woke up and hit the trail around 7 a.m we take few break pump the water (there is good stream at ~12,600' before turning left) and enjoy the view, we didn't see any one until 10:30 when we start climb the first Boulder field we heard a guy say something we should keep a distance due to rock and very loose, we greatly appreciate they warning us, so about half an hour later they pass us, we exchange a few words with them and they continue on. I keep thinking to my self "FUN" plus you have to be careful people above you or below you.

We summit around 12:00 and we get greet by the couple guy pass us earlier end up talking to them again - great conversation. Great to meet you Oldschool and Dancesatmoonrise, thanks for finding our lost bladder nozzle!! We heading down at 1:00 p.m enjoy the awesome view, pack out and head back to the truck we camp at the trail head that night. If we would know we maybe hike from the TH instead backpacking even we have a great time pack in. You never know what happen if you never get out and Do It.

Route description was excellent and easy to follow. Fun class 3 route, nothing too difficult or exposed, just be cautious of rockfall. No crowds at all - we were the only four to summit via this route today!

Great to see you up there, Steve and Tiffany! It was really sweet to be the only four on the route. You guys were so courteous and considerate. We greatly appreciated that. And enjoyed the company and conversation on the summit.

Keep up the good work.

You guys ROCK!!!!
