 Wonderful day on Huron Peak
Hello everyone,

So far this summer Ive been putting off my hiking to do some wheeling after some major modifications done on my Jeep. Well early this week my wife and i decided to take advantage of a day off we both had and headed out to Huron's Peak.

We left Denver at around 6:30pm and after a quick bite to eat we were tackling the 4WD road up to the TH. Being this would be our first time up this trail we were a bit nervous driving up this route at around 10pm.

Everything was well marked and we had no problems finding a good spot to park the Xterra and unfold our sleeping bags. We started hiking at 6am like i had mentioned and reached the summit at 9am. We were there for about 30min and got back to the car at noon.

Driving up to Leadville

Didnt quite know where the trail ended... al of a sudden I was facing the signs at the TH. Why hike when you can drive right..... lol

Next morning we were to get up at 4:30am but it was nice and toasty inside the sleeping bags so we didnt start walking until 6am..... hehehe

Thanks for the report. I'm hoping to do this next Monday. Did you need the 4wd? Or, would a high clearance vehicle be enough do you think? Thanks, C

Hight cleareance should get you there with no problems. I actually just went back there this past weekend and ran it in 2WD in my Jeep. I did see some Subaru's out up there that day too.
