1/5/2024 Posted On: 1/5/2024 By: madmattd Info: I'd highly recommend AWD/4WD and actual snow tires (or AT) to get to Sheep Gulch right now - the road is drive-able but nearing Missouri Gulch it starts getting a little deeper and softer between and along the tire tracks, and worse beyond. Many places where people have clearly gotten stuck with inadequate traction/driving ability. The lot itself for Sheep Gulch is 6-10" deep, loose snow - enter at your own risk as it isn't packed down at all. Parking in a nearby overflow has only 1-2" of snow on it - better choice while the road remains driveable and room for a few cars. | 1 |

4/23/2023 Posted On: 4/24/2023 By: Cromwell Info: CR 390 is clear of snow until about ~8 miles; short sections of snowpack are present up to Sheep Gulch TH that are easy in the morning but might require 4x4 in the afternoon. We parked (Jeep; Toyota; Subaru) at the Sheep Gulch trailhead and did not have any issues but a Toyota Highlander was stuck in the snow about 3/4 of a mile past the Sheep Gulch trailhead. Attempted to help them out with our Avy shovels, but it was thoroughly stuck and required them to seek a tow service in Buena Vista. :-( | ||||
