1/27/2025 Posted On: 1/31/2025 By: JasonCrane Info: Co91 is mostly dry & free of snow/ice from I-70. Parking area is plowed with room for plenty of vehicles.
9/9/2024 Posted On: 9/9/2024 By: ae_gentry Info: The area with the two deep ruts is getting worse, particularly since the ruts are so close together. Wouldn't recommend anything other than high clearance 4WD. Our vehicle was the only one to go up the road.
11/3/2023 Posted On: 11/3/2023 By: daway8 Info: 2WD is plowed and basically totally dry. 4WD is pretty much impassable already - only foot and ski traffic visible along the 4WD road. | 2 |

9/5/2023 Posted On: 9/5/2023 By: BenThom11 Info: Rutted section in previous update scared me off. Reversed and parked in a turnout just below it. I probably could have made it. Driving a Tacoma trd off road. But it's new and I've always had sedans, so I'm still getting used to what I can do in the taco. On my way down from Atlantic, there was 1 f150 that made it to the mine. Vehicles that were parked at the 2wd lot included a Tacoma, 2 f150s, Rav4, Wrangler, Highlander, Tahoe, and a few other trucks and SUVs
8/8/2023 Posted On: 8/8/2023 By: PikaSteve Info: About 0.4 miles in from the 2WD parking lot, a rocky, rutted section has much deeper ruts than in 2021. If you make it past this crux section, everything else is easy until the end of the road. | 1 |

7/8/2023 Posted On: 7/8/2023 By: bfaulkne Info: The 4WD road is now open for the summer.
6/12/2023 Posted On: 6/12/2023 By: djacobson Info: Open at the lower trailhead (~10,980') parking area right off 91. The gate to the start of the 4WD road is closed (around 1.5 miles before the Boston Mine). The 4WD road had significant snow in many areas. Likely won't be passable by vehicle for several weeks. Most of the snow could be avoided, or there was a well worn path, on the hike up to the 4WD TH. | 3 |

7/17/2022 Posted On: 7/17/2022 By: Ssgustafson Info: Suffered thru a hideous willow slog in the dark this morning, but luckily stumbled onto the trail soon thereafter. The trail actually starts just past the gate at the 4WD TH on the left at the black sand pile (see pictures). The trail conveniently goes thru the willows at the narrowest point and has been cleared or beaten back to some degree. The only problem is that it is horribly wet and muddy, which I didn't care too much about when I went thru it at the end of my hike, but probably not the way you want to start.... | 2 |

10/31/2021 Posted On: 10/31/2021 By: LetsGoMets Info: Road to upper TH is packed snow from the start and consistent to the end. Had no problems with a lifted Land Cruiser. Any good clearance 4x4 with good tires should have no issues.
9/9/2021 Posted On: 9/9/2021 By: cougar Info: One notably rough and rocky spot about 1/3 mile up but barely passable with Subaru using a lot of care and line picking, that spot is wide and one side has a deeper hole.
7/14/2021 Posted On: 7/14/2021 By: PikaSteve Info: One section at about 0.4 miles from 2WD parking lot requires careful snaking to avoid ruts and rocks. If you make it past here, you will be fine for the rest of the road to the gate. Limited parking near the end of the 4WD road, but very large 2WD parking lot. | 2 |

6/3/2021 Posted On: 6/3/2021 By: colin j Info: Gate is closed. First impassable drift about 0.4 miles up the road. Things are melting fast and would expect maybe a week and a half before the road is clear and gate opened.
9/24/2020 Posted On: 9/24/2020 By: dhagan Info: Was up there today for Drift and Atlantic. The tree fairies and elves have been by and everything cleared so the road is good to the mine.
9/13/2020 Posted On: 9/21/2020 By: rudi32 Info: Was up there last Sunday, 20+ downed trees starting about 200 yards up from the Lower TH. There are a few pulloffs along the way, I would recommend to park at the Lower TH. If you arrive early enough and have decent clearance, you can drive up a ways and find a pulloff
9/12/2020 Posted On: 12/29/2020 By: Makbrad Info: I did a hot lap on August 19; then returned September 12 to climb Drift for snow condition beta after the recent storm. In between this time a storm took down what I estimate to be over 20 trees down on the road blocking passage to the mine. This added significant time to the hike each way as you will have to hop over the trees to and from the mine. There is a couple of paths cuts down and around some of the larger uprooted trees. |
