6/7/2008 Posted On: 6/7/2008 By: Kojones Info: Drove to the TH yesterday as I was in the area. Road is dry all the way to the TH. I drove about 2 miles further and it was dry all the way past as well. The water is high next to the road across from the TH parking, but the overflow drain is working well, keeping the water off the road.
2/10/2007 Posted On: 2/10/2007 By: Lamewad Info: Attempted Massive today. Had to park at the start of the road, and hike in with snowshoes from there. You MIGHT be able to get through with a good 4x4, but not likely. Snowmobiles would work well though.
7/17/2006 Posted On: 7/17/2006 By: JasonF Info: 07/15/06 - Road to TH okay. Made it in my Honda Civic. Given the amount of potholes that have to be dodged I averaged around 10 mph.

6/13/2005 Posted On: 6/13/2005 By: Chicago Transplant Info: The road is open and clear all the way to the trailhead.
5/1/2005 Posted On: 5/1/2005 By: Chicago Transplant Info: I drove the Halfmoon Creek Road on Wednesday April 27th. At that time it was clear of snow and passable for 2WD vehicles to the Campground (1 mile short of trailhead). It has snowed recently and there may be some snow or muddy sections along the road, but the main winter snowpack has melted out up to the campground. 4WD vehicles could continue, but there were large sections of slushy snow across the road, sometimes a foot deep or more.
3/7/2005 Posted On: 3/7/2005 By: BillMiddlebrook Info: The Halfmoon road is closed in winter - typically only a short distance from County Road 11. It normally melts out in early May. Check with the U.S. Forest Service for TH access. |
