3/30/2008 Posted On: 3/30/2008 By: Hobopoet Info: I got to this TH easily last August (2007) in a two wheel drive Tacoma. It‘s rougher beyond this though. Getting into American Basic would probably require a 4X4.

8/10/2007 Posted On: 8/10/2007 By: robanar Info: I would not drive a car (or low clearance vehicle) on this road. The last two to three miles to the TH are rough and hectic when you have a convoy of Jeeps and ATV's on your rear. We drove a Jeep and we bounced all over. The road by the TH is in pretty good condition. There is plenty of parking at the TH.

There was a pickup truck at the Trailhead whose occupants stated they had just come over Cinnamon Pass. They said they had no trouble and that there was very little snow on it. The sign on the road in stated the pass as Closed.

9/18/2005 Posted On: 9/18/2005 By: CO Native Info: Trailhead is open still and easy to access. I drove my VW Jetta there and had no trouble. Never scraped a rock. I did have to go slow several times, but not so much as to annoy me.
5/15/2005 Posted On: 5/15/2005 By: mouser Info: Road has been recently graded all the way to the trailhead. No snow. Easily passable by passenger cars. Bathroom in working order. Plenty of space for camping. |
