Do not follow the directions in Gerry Roach's book; his shortcut between Park Country roads 4 and 6 is now closed. The directions above are correct. A normal car can go at least 1/4 mile up the forest road to a small turnout, but parking there is probably tresspassing. On the way down two guys had an SUV parked all the way up at about 12,500 feet.
