Info: Route from Zapata Falls trailhead only had minor snow which was easy to manage. Once on the summit of unranked UN 13,654, the traverse to UN 13,656 held minor patches of snow which were easy enough to get around. The traverse was moderate class 3, but significant exposure to the North looking down to Lily lake. We descended from the saddle of UN 13,656 and Ellingwood, which was loose but made for a nice loop down the more traveled Zapata south fork trail.

Info: Climbed bicentennial Un 13,656 from Zapata falls trailhead. Nearly summer conditions, and what a fun little class 3 ridge. Only a few small patches of snow/areas where it was still dusted with snow, but no cornices on route or anything. Took the ridge over to centennial California and it was similar conditions.

Info: Climbed 656 and huerfanito with Marshall (and Fawkes!) today. Occasionally icy trail, but above treeline snow is fairly sparse, though in most crevices. Climbed the small loose talus above lily lake and the unnamed lake, then took the ridge to the summit. talus field on 656 suuuuuuucks.

We descended the lily lake trail to 10.8k, then cut over to the Lindsey trail. Took that to 12k, then took the ridge up over the 12.6k bump, then went up the ridge to huerfanito. Huerfanito is not as bad as its rep suggests. Plenty of embedded solid rocks on the climb up, and the scree made the descent not bad. Big day, much bigger than the stats say, since so much was on nasty, loose terrain.

14.6 mi, 5.8k gain, 10:37 car to car. Leisurely pace today.

Info: Some snow between rocks on north facing aspects, starting at ~13k. The ridge between 13654 and 13656 was 99.97% dry. Descent off 13654's east ridge had some snow, but enough dry rock was exposed. Had microspikes and 2 carried ice axes...neither were used. The plane wreckage is worth taking some extra time to view it. Many pieces are closer to the creek, but there are pieces scattered throughout. Thank you Amy and Tom for a great day!

Route: Up Zapata Creek NW ridge and down gully face

Info: I originally planned to do HikerGuys route last weekend but had an emergency at the last minute. I took the South Zapata creek trail to the base of 13,654 NW ridge. Thanks to Eddie or mtnman for the recommendation on here. After tagging 13,656 I backtracked a hundred meters or so and descended the Climbing Cooneys gully route. I carried spikes but never dealt with snow on this route. Theres a few downed trees on trail but fairly typical for this area. 8/10 for Eddies NW ridge and 2/10 for the gully descent. I am usually fine with trash rock but I can see somebody getting hurt in here. Best descent routes would likely be back down the ridge, or down the saddle with 13,577. Plenty of water sources and nobody on the trail today until the very end (Zapata Falls). The lollipop came out to 11.4mi and 5,200 of gain.

Info: Newly ranked 13,656' and newly unranked 13,654' today. I followed the Zapata Falls trail until just before the start of the north ridge, bushwhacked up the north ridge, it was tough and slow, more snow than I expected, but so much mixed terrain I didn't use snowshoes. Above treeline was still slow going, but really enjoyable. Nice day.
