Overall this ridge lived up to the hype with 1.3k vert of scrambling on solid rock and a nice mix of stair steppiness and slab (and minimal approach BS). Approach Gully mentioned in TRs for the ridge had a nice social trail. Crux of the standard way up the ridge was coming out of the notch on a mix of slab and grass 3 (all stayed Cl3). On descent, we dropped down to the first saddle on the way to the ironedge trail (W side of fools), then took the gully at the low point back into the basin where we started the ridge; this was not bad at all to descend. Overall a ton of fun! For anyone attempting this ridge soon, a snowfield close to the summit blocks what looked to be the easiest route and necessitates 1-2 4th class moves to get through a weakness in the cliffs above the post-notch slabs. |
