Info: Absolute perfect summer conditions. Same can be said for Kruetzer. Emma Burr had some snow on north face.

Route: Ridge from Jones Mtn B
Posted On: 7/24/2023, By: Kitten
Info: Spicy ridge, went on south side and went to Class 4 pretty quick. As someone previously noted below, not all the ramps go, you can get cliffed pretty easily. STAY ON Ridge, much easier and enjoyable, only had to down climb a couple of times, rest is pretty solid. Pic 1 is looking back at Jones Mtn B and pic 2 is last hump on the ridge.

Route: South Ridge

Info: We traversed to Chalk Rock Mountain from Mt. Kreutzer on the mostly snow free south ridge of Chalk Rock Mountain. If summiting Chalk Rock Mountain via the North ridge you will be parking near 11,200 to start. The snow was solid enough to walk on in the morning; however, it became punchy when we descended the saddle between Kreutzer and Chalk Rock Mountain. With careful route finding snowshoes could be left at that car, but to completely avoid punching through snowshoes might be useful. There is a solid snow slope heading up to the saddle between Mt. Kreutzer and Chalk Rock Mountain. It is low enough angle that it can be done in just boots, but it might be useful to bring microspikes if the snow is still hard in the early morning.

Route: from Jones B

Info: After a quick descent of Jones' grassy west slope to the saddle, the climb up "Chalk Rock Mtn" is along a fun ridge! I stayed ridge proper for about halfway up, doing mostly Class 2+ with a little Class 3. There's quite a bit of exposure in spots. Eventually, the ridge crest becomes overwhelmed with spires and towers that would take a lot of time to go over, so I dropped down on the left (south) side. Here, you'll find some talus ramps heading up. But beware, not all ramps go all the way up! The first one I took dead-ended in a vertical wall! So I had to drop down loose, steep rock to find a lower ramp. Eventually, the terrain below to the left catches up and the ridge sort of degenerates into a big talus heap, from which the summit is easily reached. This is a beautiful mountain, but do be careful on the loose talus in the exposed areas if taking this route.

Route: From Mount Kreutzer + Point 12,730
Posted On: 6/21/2021, By: supranihilest
Info: "Chalk Rock" is Class 2 from Kreutzer. No snow to deal with. The final ascent up "Chalk Rock" is a bit loose but nothing terrible. Bonus 12er: Shortly after departing Kreutzer the ridge splits north and west. Go west down tundra and talus to Point 12,730. Class 2. Return back to the main ridge and continue on to "Chalk Rock".
