6/13/2025 Route: East Ridge, from Clear Creek Campground Posted On: 6/13/2025, By: bigfoot1 Info: Perfect conditions! Basically no snow, and what small bit is left is 100% avoidable (from 12.4-12.8k on the north side of the ridge). The Waverly Mountain trail on caltopo is more of a very old herd path from around 12.3k and above and is mostly nonexistent from when leaving the colorado trail. Happy summer everyone |

6/11/2023 Route: Out-and-back from Mount Oxford Posted On: 6/12/2023, By: supranihilest Info: Can't even see Waverly from Oxford, that's how low and far away it is. Though generally easy there are some snow fields, boulder fields, and snowy boulder fields to cross en route to Waverly, and then again on the way back. Don't forget it's over 1,000 feet of re-gain back to Oxford. I considered dropping down Waverly's north ridge but checked out Clear Creek the day before and it was basically whitewater and would have been unsafe to cross. |

2/8/2019 Route: East ridge Posted On: 2/9/2019, By: CaptainSuburbia Info: I started this route at the Clear Creek Reservoir. I trenched out a mostly buried Colorado trail all the way to Waverly's east ridge about 4.1 miles. From the CT to the treeline and the ridge proper it was very slow going working my way through the trees and deep powdery snow.. Postholed most of this way through knee and often waist deep snow. I kept snowshoes on for first half of the ridge as there was still plenty of snow and then switched to microspikes for last mile or so. The spikes worked good the rest of the way except for a few small sections with minor postholing. This is a fun and different way to get Oxford. I just ran out of time because of all the trenching. |
