Route: East Ridge from Petroleum Lake
Posted On: 7/4/2023, By: Tony1
Info: Dry trail to Anderson Lake, then very wet with several snowfields to Petroleum Lake. The final snowfield covers the whole steeper final ascent to the lake, but we hiked up it just fine. No spikes or gaiters but perhaps carry them just in case. Above Petroleum Lake, a couple minor snow crossings to gain the east ridge leading directly to the summit. Dry hike along the ridge.
Route: Lincoln Creek

Info: Hiked P&A today with the pup, brought gaiters and spikes but used neither. Glad that I don't have to drive the LC road for a long time after today! Anderson register was soaked, packed out the deteriorating paper, left the pen and cable crimped canister. Maybe bring dikes and a new register. Recommend starting with P & ending with A, the lakes are gorgeous.

Route: Tellurium Rd

Info: Combo with Anderson (refer to for approach info): loop from Enterprise Mine “road” then bushwhack back from Petroleum. Ridge line from Anderson is fun. Bushwhack back out to Tellurium Rd is amazingly pleasant. Lots of game trails!
Route: Anderson/Petroleum TH

Info: Easy ridge walk from Anderson.

Route: via Lincoln Creek
Posted On: 6/30/2020, By: tjf242424
Info: All snow is avoidable from Anderson Lake to Pt 13,105. From there, the ridge is snow free all the way to the summit of Anderson. The traverse to Petroleum is also dry, as is the descent directly off the Petroleum summit to Petroleum Lake. The gate at Portal Campground was open and I was able to drive all the way to a campsite near Truro Creek (about 1.5 miles past the CG). I could have easily driven all the way to the Anderson/Petroleum TH in our Subaru Outback, but we elected to use the campsite by Truro Creek as our base camp.
