9/11/2022 Route: Lulu Gulch 13er Loop Posted On: 9/12/2022, By: kwhit24 Info: We parked around 10.300' and started hiking up the 4WD road. We turned off after about .3' of a mile when we came to the gated road on our left. The old mining road follows a bunch of switchbacks to 3200' below Middle Mtn B. From there the rest of the rout is pretty clear. Follow the ridgeline to PT 13462 and Browns Pk. From Browns follow a faint trail that traverses to the saddle for Huron Pk. Up to this point everything is Class 1 but this portion involves some talus hoping along a easy slope. Once at the saddle just follow the standard trail for Huron up and back down to the car (11.39 mi; 4,330' gain; 5:46:53 total time) Start at West Winfield TH 7:15am; Middle Mtn B 9:10am; PT 13462 9:40am; Browns Pk 10:05am; Huron Pk 11:00am; Upper 4WD TH 12:30pm; Back to car at Lower TH 1:00pm |

6/17/2022 Route: Lulu Gulch 13er Loop Posted On: 6/17/2022, By: angry Info: Summer conditions, no summit register. Looked like the storm clouds were hanging over Huron all afternoon. I hightailed it down and somewhere near treeline and the road the sun reappeared and it was ridiculously hot. Stopped to take off my wind jacket and realized the chest pocket wasn't zipped and my phone fell out along the way (first world problems). |

5/13/2021 Route: Lulu Gulch 13er Loop Posted On: 5/13/2021, By: ScottLovesRMNP Info: Today I climbed Browns Peak, Point 13,462, Middle Mountain, and tacked on a second visit to Huron Peak for good measure. Route problems right now due to snow: The turn-off at 11,400 feet is completely buried in snow and there were no tracks on it, so without realizing it right away I continued up the (wrong) mining road to 11,700 feet before deciding to just start climbing up since further progress up the road looked sketchy over vast snowfields. I realized upon cresting the ridge that I was way, way off from where I was supposed to be for the loop. Thankfully, the ridge is fairly gentle and one can continue over to the base of Browns Peak from there. At that point, I decided to reverse my plans for the day and tag Huron first. A little treacherous right now with a lot of trapdoor snow heading up the final 500 feet or so. Very windy today, but not too cold. Returned to the Browns-Huron saddle and exited via Browns, Point 13,462, and Middle Mountain. For the exit, I carefully followed my GPS indication of the road, because again the road is hard to see in many places right now, except the obvious switchbacks coming down from Middle Mountain. Stunning views of Huron's east face and the snowy Collegiates, La Plata, Erwin, Blaurock, etc. My best scenery hike in a long time. |

7/27/2019 Route: From Mount Huron Posted On: 7/28/2019, By: supranihilest Info: Dry the entire way. The notch between Huron and Browns looks gnarly from afar but it's a simple Class 2 affair to bypass it. |
