Info: Climbed en route to Lackawanna. See Lackawanna update for more detail. Clear of snow to this summit. Necessary shoes-off creek crossing though at the start. GPX route accurate and very helpful.

Info: Spring snowmelt is done, so North Fork Lake Creek has come way down since the last CR on Lackawanna; crossing was a breeze. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to follow the trail; the route description makes it sound really sketchy, but it was perfectly clear all the way to treeline. Beyond treeline, actually -- the trail continues to traverse south across the west face of UN 13,660 after it clears the trees, so if you don't like the gully that Middlebrook went up, you can follow the trail until you find one you like better (I ascended one gully further south, and descended one gully further south than that). No snow anywhere. Quick and easy centennial hike -- 3:00 hours up, 1:45 back. Saw one other person as I was descending Lackawanna. Great views, as there are from any peak in that area, but the view straight up the North Fork Lake Creek valley is especially nice.

Info: After summiting Lackawanna via Southwest Gully at 9:30 continued on to tag this peak on the standard route down (decided against Southwest Gully descent given conditions). See recent Lackawanna condition report. Was able to traverse over using micro spikes in spots. We really worked on picking up our pace given some clouds that we saw building. Summited around 10:30. There are some pretty nasty looking cornices there as prior reports mention (including some on the traverse that are WAY bigger than your would think walking next to them.) Started making our way down. Relatively trouble free until we took a left to follow the standard route down the Northwest Slopes. How is this the standard route? We had a .gpx but had real trouble trying to follow a trail (could have been covered by isolated patches of snow?) The slope started as steep dry tundra that turned into talus further down that felt pretty sketchy. That and there were isolated patches of snow here and there. After that it turned into a post hole nightmare (we left our snow shoes in the car...) Managed to glissade in some spots (including some questionably steep spots) even though the snow was super soft (and waist deep in spots) Finally got some relief getting to the part of the GPX track by the "cabin" as it looked like snow mobiles packed down that part of the trail pretty well. Around this point the trail started to really dry out too. North Fork Lake Creek running a bit high. Be prepared to get your feet wet. Definitely wish we had flotation. Though with as soft as the snow was that might not have helped. Made it to the trailhead around 14:45. daway8 indicated a Trip Report is pending.

Info: Easy traverse between the two peaks. Getting off "Lackawanna" was a bunch of semi-dry tundra. From the saddle onward to 13,660 the snow was somewhat deep and soft. The northern side of the ridge was topped with massive cornices. One steep, exposed snow knife edge had to be crossed, I kicked steps around it on the south side. This was the only spot an ice axe felt necessary. The remainder to the summit was easy. I returned over "Lackawanna". Microspikes were helpful for most of the traverse, an ice axe was useful for the one spot with the snow knife edge, and flotation was not necessary.

Info: Got under an inch of snow on September 16, but the snow promptly melted except for north-facing slopes. Slippy at points between Casco and Frasco, which was already the toughest part of the hike. There were some decent winds and relatively cold temperatures with the snow, so winter is on its way.
