Route: Baldwin Gulch

Info: Im not certain this is the best route but going up shav/tab or the longer way from browns creek was less appealing. Head up the road until you reach 278/278A junction (turn off for white/antero near 13k). Follow 278 towards browns creek losing about ~1200ft elevation. The crux of the route is crossing browns creek. From where I parked, it was around 4.25 miles to point I first attempted to cross. Recommend doing so earlier as I had to back track to find a narrower area as the creek is high and moving fast. A little wet/marshy until you get out of the willows, then mostly dry to summit.

Route: Esprit/Shavano/Tabueguache/13712/Jones
Posted On: 6/30/2022, By: JasonKline
Info: Did the Esprit/Shavano/Tabueguache/13712/Jones loop from Shavano/Tabeguache trailhead. Esprit had a light dusting from the previous night that is probably gone by now. Shavano had a bit more snow, but no need for microspikes, etc. The rest of the route was free of snow and ice.

Route: Via Mt Shavano

Info: Another bluebird. 98% of the trail from Shavano TH to Shavano summit is dry as bones. Any snow patches are easily avoidable. From Shavano summit to saddle of 13712 there is snow for the majority of the ridge, but rockhopping can almost completely avoid the snow. From saddle to summit of 13712, all is dry. Fun route...10.75 miles and 5500' elevation

Route: From Browns Creek
Posted On: 5/16/2020, By: WildWanderer
Info: First 7.5 miles of the trail is clear of snow. From leaving the 4WD road, crossing the creek, and traversing the willows to treeline (about 1 mile) you'll need snowshoes and excellent navigation skills. From treeline to summit snow free. 19 mile day, only needed snowshoes for 2 miles of it but totally worth carrying them. Also, if you plan to summit from Shav/Tab, the route looks clear (last photo)

Route: From Shavano/Tabeguache saddle
Posted On: 3/16/2020, By: CaptainSuburbia
Info: Snow is avoidable from Shav/tab saddle to summit. A fun bicentennial with great views of Antero/White and a different than usual view of Shav/Tab. It's a bigger commitment than it looks. From Shav/Tab saddle you need to drop down an additional 400 feet before climbing up to 13712. So it's 800 vertical feet back to Shavano. Did not take class 3 ridge to Jones. It looks doable now with very little snow on towers or crest. Slope down to Shavano Lake from Jones is dry.

Route: From Tabeguache Peak
Posted On: 10/16/2019, By: supranihilest
Info: The route from Tabeguache is obvious: go to the Shavano/Tabeguache saddle and then drop down and across talus to the start of the slopes up Point 13,712. The slopes to 13,712's summit are steep and covered in blocky talus but there's only a couple hundred feet of that type of terrain to get there. At this point it is all dry.
