6/25/2023 Route: Via Holy Cross Ridge/Halo Ridge Posted On: 6/25/2023, By: shepherdkyle Info: Again, snow not an issue. Tedious work. Boulders/scree. Now the descent off into Seven Sisters Lake basin was another story. Looking back at our route, we werent sure how we down climbed the snow, but we did. Few fun glissades on our way to Whitney. |

9/17/2022 Route: South Ridge Posted On: 9/18/2022, By: CheapCigarMan Info: From the TH to the extreme 4WD road is a short bushwhack with no trail. Graupel, rain, wind off and on from when I set up camp Friday evening to 10:30am Saturday. Then bluebird skies. Completely opposite from NOAA's forecast. Built my first cairn to identify where the trail starts off of the 4WD road. Camped at the mid Seven Sisters Lakes at 12,150'. Left the trail where Roach suggested. There's a much easier route as marked with a cairn before that. Very secluded remote peak with gorgeous lakes. Mixture of loose and stable rock on mountains slope. No clear path up the rocky slope. Just make your way to the saddle then I'd call it a Class 2 - 2+ up the last 200' or so to the summit. Though ground was semi covered with graupel there was no signs of ice. 33 degrees / 22 degrees windchill 13 mph winds on the summit at 11am. |

6/27/2021 Route: S Slopes from French Posted On: 6/28/2021, By: eskermo Info: Muddy, soupy trail in many spots once you leave the Holy Cross City Rd, up until the lower Seven Sisters lakes. Gaining the highest lake was probably the trickiest part as there was plenty of wet rock and interesting snow crossings. An hour of snow falling during this section made it even more exciting. Possible to to stay on dry rock from highest Seven Sisters lake up to the summit. Register is in great shape but could use some more paper. There was a clever cairned high traverse that contours above the highest Seven Sisters lake if your goal is to add on Whitney Pk. Be careful to stay on route/higher and not get lured too low too soon into some cliffs like my dumbass :) |

9/26/2019 Route: From Holy Cross Ridge Posted On: 9/26/2019, By: supranihilest Info: A super cool peak and definitely worth making the out and back trip to. From Holy Cross Ridge drop down the usual granite talus/boulders to the saddle and then march on the ridge crest past impressive, steep, smooth slabs. There may be trail segments here and there. A lot of the ridge is flat, then it kicks back past a couple of teeth (all Class 2) to the summit, which is an absolutely incredible, nearly smooth block of granite on one side covered with talus on the other. Look in awe at the face and be glad there's an easy route to the top. It took me about 50 minutes one way to/from Holy Cross Ridge. |
