6/9/2023 Route: Brook’s Creek Posted On: 6/9/2023, By: tjf242424 Info: Some small patches of inconsequential snow, but basically summer conditions for Bushnell and North Twin Sister. The road can be traveled by any SUV. Previous trip reports describe it as narrow and overgrown, so I suspect its been cleared in the interim. We saw a large bear at around 10,000 ft by the creek. The descent off Twin Sister is unpleasant. |

6/8/2023 Route: Brook Creek Posted On: 6/9/2023, By: malogos Info: Basically clear of snow/summer conditions. As others have said, the descent down the boulder slope is incredibly tedious and awful. |

9/9/2022 Route: From Bushnell Posted On: 9/12/2022, By: IHikeLikeAGirl Info: Hike up to Twin Sisters South and North was pleasant. Difficulties are minimum. Descended into the basin, as most people do. It was loose, tedious, and oh so much care had to be taken. I definitely sent some rocks down and started several (mini) rock slides. My hiking partner (who is a tall, strapping, young man) had a large rock/boulder roll and pin his leg. Fortunately, he was able to roll it off, as I was not near him and...apparently, oblivious to his predicament. He said it was heavy and was not easy to move it off. I eyeballed the SW ridge the whole day and wondered if that would be a better descent. Was not able to find any beta on it, but it "appeared" to have a little more tundra and be slightly less steep. Don't know...we opted to stick with what others had done. Ditto on the pinstripes. Do NOT drive this road all the way up, if you like your paint job. I thought, "how bad can it be?" It is bad and I have a narrowish vehicle. |

6/17/2021 Route: Brook Creek Posted On: 6/18/2021, By: 9patrickmurphy Info: Road is Subaruable, but I want to add a warning that you shouldn't take this road if you really care about your car's paintjob, the willows (I think they're willows, some sort of demon bush) are encroaching into the road and there is no way to prevent a bunch of scratching. The road is pretty rocky, and I had to take my time in a few spots, but it was nothing my Forester with good off-road tires couldn't handle. The route up Bushnell and Twin Sisters is as everyone else describes: good road, then very steep ascent, then very steep descent. The descent wasn't as bad as some had made it out to make, but it was very slow going and loose. On a sidenote, why are they called the Twin Sisters? There's nothinig similar about them, not in any way. Not even from the valley do they look like twins. Silly. |

6/13/2021 Route: Traverse from Bushnell Posted On: 6/13/2021, By: mikemalick Info: Full Summer conditions. No need to touch any snow on the traverse from Bushnell. 3 stream crossings along the trail back to Brook Creek TH are only a few inches deep and there is always something easy enough to walk across on. Pic one is Bushnell Peak summit looking to Twin Sisters. Pic two is the awful descent to make your way back to Brook Creek TH. |

11/11/2019 Route: Via Bushnell Peak, Southwest Slopes Descent Posted On: 11/12/2019, By: supranihilest Info: The traverse from Bushnell Peak was almost entirely dry, and what little snow there was could be avoided. Twin Sisters South blocks the way but is easier than it looks from Bushnell. The real meat of Twin Sisters North is getting off of it. Perhaps the best descent is to go partway back to Bushnell and down, but I went directly down the southwest slopes which are unrelentingly steep and loose. The upper portion to treeline is not fun; be careful not to roll a boulder onto your feet and legs. Once at treeline things become easier and the terrain funnels into one of two small drainage gullies and things then begin to flatten out as the route approaches the road. From that point, assuming the road was used as as the ascent route, just retrace back down the road to where you parked. |

7/23/2019 Route: Western Ridge Posted On: 7/25/2019, By: JasonKline Info: Ferguson Creek -> Bushnell -> Twin Sisters North -> Ferguson Creek is entirely summer conditions and free of snow. The Ferguson Creek trail has an extremely large blockage about a mile from the trailhead, but the trail does continue on the other side of the massive pile of trees and is worth refinding. I added a picture of the Ferguson Creek trailhead sign, as well as the gap in the fence through which the trail continues just east of the trailhead. |
