7/17/2023 Route: Huerfano - South Slopes (with Iron Nipple option) Posted On: 7/19/2023, By: JasonKline Info: We basically followed Ben's route from https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/tripreport.php?trip=20871 except that we did it in the counterclockwise direction instead of clockwise. We also didn't do Lindsey due to the closure, so we covered Huerfanito->Iron Nipple->Huerfano->13555 in that order. We definitely saw the private property signs and fenceposts while trying to stay on the legal side when going between Huerfanito and Huerfano. It's summer conditions, with only a small amount of snow that is easily avoidable. We found the ridge between 13555 and Huerfano to be a bit slow and tedious. It mostly went class 2+ with some class 3, but required a lot more route finding than the rest of the day. |

9/21/2020 Route: Lindsey saddle Posted On: 9/22/2020, By: mikemalick Info: Snow not an issue from the saddle with Lindsey up to Iron Nipple summit. No ice/snow along final mini knife-edge just prior to summit. |

7/6/2020 Route: From \"Huerfano\", to Lindsey Posted On: 7/7/2020, By: supranihilest Info: The ascent of Iron Nipple from "Huerfano" is awesome. Ample Class 2+ on solid and sticky rock, it's much nicer than it looks from below. Route finding is almost non-existent. There's a short Class 2+/Easy Class 3 knife edge just before the summit that's pretty exposed but easy and solid. To descend to the saddle with Lindsey go back across the knife edge and then down the south ridge/southwest slopes. There's some loose rock in this area but nothing awful. Go in between the two towers, and near the bottom make a zigzagging descent down a couple of short slabs and ledges to the red/dark colored rock. From there simply walk over to the saddle with Lindsey and either ascend Lindsey or descend back to the trailhead. |

6/3/2020 Route: South Ridge Posted On: 6/3/2020, By: LetsGoMets Info: Normal trail up to Lindsey saddle is mostly summer once you get up to the basin, but there is enough blow down and snow patches in the lower areas to want to be familiar with the route if you are heading up in the dark. Water crossing about 1 mile in is a wade across currently. |

5/16/2020 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 5/17/2020, By: brauda02 Info: Summitted the Iron Nipple after Huerfano. It's completely dry. There is a short, easy knife edge to gain the true summit. |
