Route: Horn Creek via Little Baldy

Info: Followed supranihilist’s trip report. Summer conditions; no snow/ice. Surprisingly, no mosquitos (that will likely change soon).

Route: East ridge from Horn Creek
Posted On: 8/4/2023, By: desertdog
Info: What a beautiful way to climb this mountain. Lots of incredible views of the Cretones, Kit, etc. We combined with 13,517 using supranihilests excellent TR as our guide. The grass on the upper Horn Creek trail is high so you might want to bring rain pants if theres rain in the forecast. You just take the Horn Creek trail to the first lake and take a left up a long but easy grass slope to the ridge. If you look you can find a game trail that will take you through the willows at the bottom of the slope. Once up on the ridge, get ready, its a long way to the mountains.

Route: Macey Lakes
Posted On: 6/30/2023, By: tjf242424
Info: Summer conditions and probably the best access to this peak. The trail to the first Macey Lake is in good shape. Bushwack to treeline is pretty annoying with lots of downed trees, but short. Once out of the trees, mostly easy tundra to Little Baldy and onward to 13517 and 13541.

Route: Via Horn Creek Trail

Info: Summer conditions (negligible snow), but windy and cold. Register is very wet, did not pull it out, worried it would tear.

Route: Via Point 13,517 B
Posted On: 6/21/2020, By: supranihilest
Info: See my report for Point 13,517 B for details on the majority of the ascent up 13,541. From 13,517 B's summit we dropped south on the ridge to the saddle then stayed on the ridge to the summit. Grassy and rocky. All dry. Class 2 the entire way. To descend we dropped to the 13,541/13,517 B saddle then contoured around to the ridge with Little Baldy. Nothing bad here, some annoying sidehilling but not real steep or loose or anything. We went back up and over Little Baldy because the easiest slope down was the one we came up from the lowest Horn Lake.

Route: from Little Baldy

Info: Decent trench in place to treeline of Little Baldy (12er). Used it to access PT 13,541‘ and PT 13,517B. No snow above treeline, decent amount below treeline with postholing to knee/upper tibia if not on the trench. Trench stays a little to the north initially to ~10,250 and then heads straight south 700‘ up to gain the true ridge. Blame me for the steepish 700‘ grunt...the ridge is super long if you‘re accessing those 2 thirteeners but you‘ve got amazing views the whole way above treeline. PM me for pics.
