7/19/2020 Route: From Irving Peak Posted On: 7/19/2020, By: supranihilest Info: Totally dry from Irving, Class 2 at worst. Getting off "North Irving" back to Rock Lake was a bit of a mess and involved going down an awful, loose, steep gully that involved some exposed scrambling and cliff skirting. This gully was not difficult but required extreme care as the consequences of even a small slip would be catastrophic. Once out of the danger zone and in the basin we went back up and over the Mount Oso/"Mount SoSo" saddle, which is loose and crappy on both sides, then went northeast up nice grassy slopes between Point 13,060 C and an unnamed point to its east, then back to the pass between Rock Lake and Half Moon Lake. 1) Looking up "North Irving". 2 and 3) Looking down and up our descent gully, respectively. NOTE: Since this was ascended a while ago and I'm just now getting back to internet, I've put today's date for visibility, since there hasn't otherwise been recent updates for the peak. I'll backdate this CR in a couple of days. |
