6/4/2023 Route: Northeast Couloir Posted On: 6/4/2023, By: supranihilest Info: From Blue Lakes trailhead it's about 1.3 miles of patchy snow then nearly continuous. We crossed the unnamed creek that drains the east side of Wolcott, then followed it up into more open terrain. The route becomes more obvious and we cramponed from where things get steep all the way to the summit. There are two main couloirs on the east face, we took the right, less steep couloir. There's a small cornice on top that we avoided easily to the right. From there it's an easy walk and short Class 2+ scramble on loose rock to the summit. Couloir topped out at probably 40 degrees. Eastern exposure means it gets soft early in the morning. We summitted around 7:40am. |
