5/27/2024 Route: East/Northeast Face Posted On: 5/27/2024, By: Chicago Transplant Info: Drove up Eureka Gulch in an Outback to a little bit above the Boulder Gulch turnoff, could probably have driven farther but honestly didn't seem like there was anywhere to park if I did. Patchy snow starts blocking road around 10,800 ish then can continuously skin from 11,300. Basin has plenty of snow and it was easy to string it together, one bare patch of road I went up the slopes to the right to bypass it. Skinned up the main east/northeast face until it started to steepen around 12,800 then booted the face to the ridge. Skirted left of a cornice and popped out almost right on the summit. Bright warm morning and had great snow to ski it at 9am. With the warm week forecast, that is a good target as this gets snow pretty much at first light. |

7/4/2023 Route: North face snow climb Posted On: 7/4/2023, By: VeraUndertow Info: Snow looked decent from Brown and access is great if you have a 4x4. Drove up to 12k on CR10 and parked on the road that cuts under the south face of Hurricane. About 1000 ft of moderate snow to climb before you crest onto the summit ridge just above 13,200 ft. From here it was almost all just some easy dry class 2. I skied all the snow I could on the way down and it wasn't too bad sun cup wise. 3 miles round trip and it took me 3 hours round trip with over 1 hour of waiting for clouds to pass so the snow could soften up. Fun to still be skiing on July 4th |

8/3/2021 Route: Northeast Ridge from Hurricane Peak Posted On: 8/3/2021, By: supranihilest Info: I descended Hurricane Peak's broad south ridge to a road then took the road to Sunnyside Saddle; the road isn't marked on maps but is visible on satellite photos, Sunnyside Saddle is marked on maps. From there the ridge to Bonita is obvious and looks like it might be difficult, but all the slabby sawteeth can be skirted on climber's left. The upper ridge is a little exposed and is very rocky but still just Class 2. |
