Route: Dunn > Middle > Dolores from Fish Creek TH
Posted On: 6/1/2025, By: HikerGuy
Info: Easy drive to the Fish Creek TH, although a bit washboardy between Navajo Lake and Dunton. A bit of soft snow in the trees above 11,000 feet, but fully supportive above treeline. Microspikes were helpful for going up Dunn Peak, but I did not use them after that. 8.19 miles, 4,341 feet and 6h 26m. This is a nice little trio of peaks!

Route: Lollipop with Delores
Posted On: 5/27/2024, By: Trotter
Info: Went up the Southwest gully from fish creek, west face of Delores, then over to Middle along ridge, back down the gully. Road to starting switchback is completely dry and 2WD. Entire route is about 2/3rd snow covered. Snow was supportive, we carried snowshoes but never used them. A few postholes below treeline on way down. Anything not covered by snow is generally a loose pile of choss. Delores no issues, can link together snow patches or choss patches on way up. East ridge of Middle mountain has some sketchy areas, snow is stacked several feet on ridge with a lot of cornices. Had to do quite a bit of front pointing, kicking steps, and shuffling along the narrow sections that were no fall areas. I wished I had two tools in a couple places.

Route: West ridge from the saddle with Dunn
Posted On: 10/7/2023, By: SnowAlien
Info: Pleasant day on Middle and Dolores, great fall weather and aspens are at peak. Followed Bombay2Boulder and Henes route (with minor variations) and it was on the money. No bushwhack to the saddle with Dunn and the ridge had some minor scrambling. Continued to Dolores. Snow is avoidable, still summer conditions. Register in good shape.

Route: Southeast Ridge

Info: There is no trail from Dolores County Road 52 up either Dolores Peak or Middle Peak. Bushwhack north up Fish Creek drainage and as the terrain steepens stay on the west side of the creek. There's anywhere from no snow to a couple of inches of snow in spots in the forest. If you find yourself climbing northeast steeply through the forest or northeast on steep scree you're in the wrong place. If you're still in the drainage and below large cliffs you're in the wrong place. In both cases go down creek a little but and then west and north on easier terrain. The first difficult terrain you should encounter is a large, somewhat steep talus field on the western side of the drainage - exposure should be minimal and the creek will be obvious in a gorge to the east. Once above treeline snow coverage is minimal and can mostly or entirely be avoided until the summit ridge. Climb towards the Dolores/Middle saddle and turn west towards a broad, open slope of scree and talus. Climb this to the summit ridge and then climb northwest along the narrow ridge to the big bump in the middle - this is the true summit. The summit ridge has a lot of snow on it and is quite exposed but the difficulty is all Class 2.
