Info: Climbed V2 via Island Lake after backpacking into Ice Lakes Basin. The initial ascent up to the saddle between US Grant and V2 is loose scree, but manageable, and goes by quickly. From there, the ascent up to V2 is quick and straightforward. We went all the way to the end of the ridge because we were not sure what the actual summit of V2 was, and wanted to be sure. Absolutely amazing views.

Info: A beautiful Autumn cold ,sunny and snowy day.All in one.I hiked to Island Lake and then took the trail that goes up to the saddle. From there I hiked on a well established trail all the way to summit. Rock is rotten everywhere.Views were just mesmerizing 360*.No snow is present on V2 but some peaks around have a dust that has already settled.Very quiet and not too crowded on Ice lakes, which is unusual.Leaves are peaking.Glorious day.

Route: US Grant

Info: From US Grant, the traverse to V2 is quite loose and it was better to stay close to the ridge when possible. Once at the saddle, easy walk up to the summit. No register.

Route: From Island Lake

Info: From "V 4" we returned to Island Lake then took the trail up to Swamp Pass. From Swamp Pass it's a Class 1 hike on an unofficial trail to the summit of "V 2". The first high point you reach is the summit, despite the far end of the ridge looking high as well. We went out to the end of the ridge and it was clearly lower from that vantage. We returned to Swamp Pass and then took the trail into Swamp Basin. The first few hundred feet are very steep and loose scree or hardpan, and by far the most unpleasant part of the descent. Once past this garbage hop on the obvious trail and follow it to Ophir Pass Road. Since we parked at Waterfall Basin we took the road through town and back to our vehicle.

Route: Swampy Canyon

Info: A few patches of snow between the “scenic bench” and the base of the head wall to Swampy/Grant Pass, but nothing that causes any issues. The head wall is free of snow and steep and very loose, as expected.
