8/24/2022 Route: Kendall BM to 13109 Traverse Posted On: 8/26/2022, By: JasonKline Info: Have you ever had the ridiculous idea of soloing the Kendall Benchmark to Pt. 13109 traverse when you only have a low-clearance sedan? Not only can you not set up the car caravan between the Titusville site and Deer Park as per bergsteigen's report, but you also have to park almost all the way down near Silverton because the road requires higher-clearance pretty early on? If you ever decide to engage in such foolishness, it took me about 16.2 miles and 7,300'. Also, the gully you ascend to reach Kendall Peak really is as soul-sucking as everybody says. At least it's still summer conditions. |

8/31/2020 Route: From Kendall Peak Posted On: 9/1/2020, By: supranihilest Info: A bit of a round about route. I went south from Kendall Peak's summit to the top of the scree gully I ascended, then southeast on the ridge. The ridge looks like it will continuously cliff out but it's all Class 2 to the saddle with Point 13,409 (which is nicknamed "Spencer Peak", not to be confused with Spencer Peak near Grand Turk, and is actually 13,420' according to Lists of John). From the saddle I dropped north onto a trail that crosses 13,409's north face. This trail is in pretty bad disrepair and is only a foot or so wide most of the way, and loose the entire way. Once it dumps out on the northeast side of 13,409 either go over 13,409 or skirt around it then go up easy grass slopes to the summit of "Mountaineer Peak". |
