Peak Condition Updates

Route: From Sunlight Lake & Point 13,121

Info: See my Point 13,121 CR for how to reach the saddle east of Greylock. There's a snowfield there still that we kicked steps up. It's maybe 10-15 feet tall and was not avoidable when we were there. Then hike up easy slopes to Greylock's summit. If not going to "East Windom" descend the way you ascended. If going to "East Windom" go west on granite ledges and slabs until you reach a large notch. Descend into the notch and climb a short (~10 foot) headwall at Class 3, then traverse across increasingly loose and exposed ledges and slabs. Perhaps the best option is to stay lower, but there is a large cliff if you go too low. The option Whiley and I took was pretty scary - a 15 foot traverse on a 2-foot wide, glass smooth, angled slab with no hands and a few hundred feet of exposure. We then buttscooted down a kitty litter filled gully to safer terrain. There were other options, but they all looked bad. This was the end of the difficulties and the remaining ascent up "East Windom" was Class 2. Photos: 1) most of the day from the granite swell, with Point 13,121 on the left, Greylock in the middle, and "East Windom" on the right. 2) Greylock from the summit of Point 13,121. 3) Nearing Greylock's summit. 4, 5, 6, and 7) Some of the descent and ascent terrain between Greylock and "East Windom". NOTE: Since this was ascended a while ago and I'm just now getting back to internet, I've put today's date for visibility, since there hasn't otherwise been recent updates for the peak. I'll backdate this CR in a couple of days.
