Peak Condition Updates
8/13/2018
Route: Combo: 13,832 + 13,811

Info: Dry and great conditions. As stated in the dot com description, stay south and traverse east versus going north (or over) of the first major point on the ridge from Redcloud, a bit tricky to see the best way it goes when it's dark.

Info: Summer conditions. I was surprised to find a good trail all the way to 13832. Must be all of those Fall gatherings!

Info: We had done the Sunshine and Redcloud combo a couple days prior and decided to try something different for the 13ers in the area. We left one of our cars at the Wilson Creek TH the night before and camped at the Silver Creek TH. We knew it was a similar distance but hoped to save some elevation gain and see different scenery in the process. My GPS registered 13 miles and 4400' of elevation so it didn't save us as much as I had hoped. A few hundred feet of the elevation gain was on the lower part of the Wilson Creek trail where it goes up and down next to a stream to avoid beaver ponds. It did get us off the ridge sooner so if the weather is an issue it might be a better choice. The easiest way off 13811 is to go back west on the ridge for about a tenth of a mile and then head SSE on the grass. You will hit the Wilson Creek trail near N37 56.777 W107 22.491.

Route: NW Ridge from Silver Creek
Posted On: 5/14/2016, By: mrickers
Info: Intermittent patches of snow until 11,600'. I was postholing at 6:30am down low and on the way out. Continuous snow starts at 11,600' until the 13,000' saddle with Redcloud. Dry on the ridge until you need to skirt around 13561. Pretty much snow from there to summit. Ice axe, micro spikes, and snow shoes were very useful.
