4/30/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 4/30/2023, By: hamnwizz Info: Started at 8.15am - on the way we up we switched between snowshoes and spikes on and off - the snow gets pretty patchy so we stashed our snowshoes at the final false summit but then post holed quite a bit at the end to get to the top! Beautiful blue day with amazing views of the rest of the range! Direction finding was easy but finding the exact trail a bit difficult with the snow - cairns helped a lot. The last section through the trees back to the TH had some extremely deep post holing! Fun but glad we had snowshoes as backup. |

4/8/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 4/8/2023, By: CheapCigarMan Info: Road to TH was intermittent snow and ice. Drove to the end of the road where there's a 5' wall of plowed snow. That's as far as you can drive :) There's a snow packed trail through the woods, about a half mile. You can keep going straight or go climber's left for main trail. Though, the junction is not apparent. Snow is more firm and more obvious trail if you choose to go straight through the willows. If your choice is to go climbers left at the junction the snow is not as consolidated and not much of a trail. Snowshoes recommended if taking the climber's left on the ridge. Was nice blue skies and gentle winds until the summit at 10am. Just as forecasted the winds picked up and clouds rolled in at that time. On the summit 15 degrees, 17 mph winds, and 7 degrees windchill. A good warm up to start the season. Peak Chaser will be 1 year old on Monday and it was his first ranked 13'er. |

4/2/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 4/2/2023, By: csf-lhiver Info: Did a ski descent. Would I recommend skiing it? Probably not, but it was a lot of fun for a quick peak to get. Flotation necessary from TH through trees to base of ridge ascent, you'll still posthole in some spots with flotation. Snow isn't consistent all the way to the summit. I did a lot of high steps with skins/skis on. |

3/18/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 3/18/2023, By: HikesInGeologicTime Info: Solid trench through trees and up base of first slope. Flotation helpful but not strictly necessary thereafter, as theres not a whole lot of snow between the rock patches. In fact, if youre on skis, you might as well drop them at that first rocky patch; connecting snow is sorta doable above that but very much not recommended without skins to protect your bases. If youre looking for some good weight training, though, you can skin up to the false summit and then attach them to your pack. |

3/5/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 3/18/2023, By: sarahmariekirk Info: Trail was pretty packed, didnt need snowshoes or spikes. With incoming weather, that will probably change. I lost my favorite Patagonia beanie if anyone finds it! |

2/4/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 2/4/2023, By: kyrawhitworth Info: No flotation or traction needed yet as snow was packed down, hard, or nonexistent depending on the slope. Windy up high but great down low. Excellent views! |

1/29/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 1/30/2023, By: Svobatron Info: Great beginner peak for a winter ascent. Zero avalanche risk as long as you stick to the ridge. Went with my brother and my dog. Had to trailbreak for the short bit below treeline but after that it was a simple ridge hike marked sparsely with cairns. There is a false summit at 12,900 but don't be fooled! The actual summit is much closer than it looks. Wind was ripping about 30-40 mph the whole time but the sky was clear giving amazing views at the summit. 10/10 would recommend! |

1/8/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 1/9/2023, By: N0MTN Info: The roads are all plowed to the trailhead. There is a good boot pack through the trees, though I sank to my knees a few times. As you climb, the trail is here and there covered with a little snow and hard to read. I never used the microspikes. I carried snowshoes and put them on through the trees on the way down. Winds were extreme! |

12/10/2022 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 12/10/2022, By: HikerGuy Info: Carried snowshoes, but did not use them. Traction not needed either (did not carry). Boots/gaiters and you are good to go. Bootpack through trees. Wind was not that bad today. Never broke out the puffy. |

4/23/2022 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 4/23/2022, By: csf-lhiver Info: Windy Couldn't see the mountain except for at moments when the clouds broke. Went in only a bit and skied down one hump. Besides the conditions of today, there is enough snow to make it a descent ski descent. 4WD with all weather tires work fine to the trailhead If anyone happens to find a yellow Ortovox Stay In Sheep hat at some point on their adventure out there let me know.... mine managed to get blown off my head without noticing until much later |

2/19/2022 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 2/19/2022, By: ekalina Info: Route is mostly windblown. Encountered two snowfields in route to the summit, but they were of little consequence. Until the next storm, snowshoes aren't needed if you are ok with a few instances of postholing near treeline in the first 1/2 mile. |
|
2/12/2022 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 2/13/2022, By: gluckhikes Info: No flotation or traction needed, but I did find a couple opportunities to posthole around treeline. Most of the snow is hard packed and windblown, even in the brief section of willows. Very little snow near the summit due to oppressive winds. |

1/15/2022 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 1/15/2022, By: Carl_Healy Info: Pretty easy day. Some deepish snow through tree line that had some drifted boot pack through, though snow shoes were certainly nice to have. Snow was relatively thin above treeline and where it wasn't the snow was wind hardened and not punchy. Stashed snow shoes maybe 200' above treeline around some thin willows. You won't need them past unless the snow gets softer on a warm day. Summit dry. More than a few people on the mountain today. Snowmobiles too. |
