6/19/2024 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 6/19/2024, By: Danger_D Info: Close to summer conditions. There are a few large snow drifts below tree line. These are easy to cross but you have to find the trail on the other side. A few muddy places but nothing crazy. If youre going on to Evans B the ridge to that saddle is snow free and easy class 2 |

4/21/2024 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 4/23/2024, By: djacobson Info: Parked at the snow bank 0.2mi from summer TH. Room for 3 cars or so. Broke trail with snowshoes until the first slope. Some folks kept them on but there were some dry areas to cross. I carried mine for most of the incline and across the final bowl and it wasnt awful without them. Maybe 12 inches of snow. We packed down a good trail. Blue bird day with minimal wind. Enjoyable easier hike with great views! |

3/10/2024 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 3/11/2024, By: ColoNativeGal Info: Forecasted winds were 5-10mph with 20+ gusts, but when I started at 7:30a it was sustained 20+ head wind and blowing snow. A very nice trench from the parking lot, then I lost it in the trees because the wind blew it in. But once out of the trees the route is obvious. I used snowshoes the whole day, only had some minor rock areas but easy to navigate. Winds on the saddle were closer to 30mph and on the summit had a couple 40+ gusts. Wind was blowing in my tracks, but I followed an old ski line that was a little more solid than making my own way. I was regretting my soft shell pants on the way up as the wind chill had to be low single digits maybe slightly negative, but I tied my hard shell jacket around my waist so it draped over my thighs to protect them. Once I got back across the saddle passed the mine and started the descent, the winds died down to forecast level and I was happy with my soft shell pants; as I was cooking by the time I got back to the car. Great day. There should be a solid track now as at least 2 other people summited and I saw 3 others going up on my way down. Get it before the next storm hits. |

2/17/2024 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 2/17/2024, By: 14er101 Info: Quick jaunt - Flotation is handy until around 12600, but mostly windblown afterward. |

1/28/2024 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 1/29/2024, By: Kiefer Info: No flotation is needed. Leave your snowshoes at home. Not enough snow to make a ski descent worth it. There's a good, packed trench through the trees. From treeline to the summit, the steeper slopes are holding snow but not deep. Multiple sections of dry tundra. |

1/20/2024 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 1/21/2024, By: kcovingt Info: Would recommend snowshoes in the trees, saw a lot of post-holing. Boots fine above trees. Could take spikes if you want but right now its unnecessary. |

12/31/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 12/31/2023, By: dwoodward13 Info: Decent trench thru the trees/willows. Postholing here and there but nothing worth brining snowshoes for. Upper mountain is largely bare. |

12/31/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 12/31/2023, By: SionaRW35 Info: Packed snow in the trees. Dry with patchy snow above tree line. No need for snowshoes. Spikes are not necessary but might be preferable. |

11/18/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 11/18/2023, By: madmattd Info: Some minor snow fields here and there, but nothing more than ankle deep all the way to the summit, and most of the hike can be done snow-free. Register has a newish pad and pen, but needs a new container (old one is a plastic deal with snap-on lid missing most of the latches). |

10/20/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 10/20/2023, By: joannalee07 Info: Hiked on 10/20, the trailhead parking got moved since the last time I was here so it is now about 5.2 miles. Small patches of snow but all avoidable. Trail is otherwise dry!! |

5/28/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 5/30/2023, By: kwhit24 Info: The lower area from the trailhead is muddy but the snow is navigable. The were a couple snow fields going up to the Penn Mtn plateau. From there to the saddle between Penn ant Mt. Evans B was snow free or the snow was avoidable. Nothing on this hike was over Class 2 and we didn't use or need any flotation. Going up Mt. Evans B required crossing multiple snow fields as we hopped to each rock/grass area. 95% of the time the snow was firm enough to walk on but the we did have a few knee to hip deep postholes. On the way down we made a few short glissades. (10.09 mi; 3,232' gain; 5:10:09 total time) Start at TH 7:25am; Pennsylvania Mtn 8:35am; Mount Evans B 10:15am; Back to TH 12:35pm |

5/12/2023 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 5/12/2023, By: LetsGoMets Info: Flotation helpful in a few places along the route. Very minimal new snow and it was melting fast. No need for traction or anything. |
