Info: I SAW A MOOSE TODAY!!! Finally managed to get out of bed for the first time in like 6 months and started up from the Mosquito Pass/696 junction (where the road starts getting rocky and suspicious) around 8am. Road is mostly clear of snow until the mill turn off but there are some pretty deep and cold puddles. Snow the consistency of a beaten butter and sugar mixture, like in a cookie dough mix. Lost a lot of time to taking snowshoes on and off again so many times. Broke through intermittently to knee/mid thigh depth. No snowshoes are needed once you get to the top of the road where the turn off to the ridge is. Ridge is easy going and no traction was needed; the wind was forecasted to be 10mph but was probably 30-35mph. Snow turned to extremely heavy mashed potatoes on the way back down at noon and my snowshoes got soaked all the way through. It was a beautiful day and it looks like there's still a lot of good snow coverage on kuss and mosquito peak with 0 ski tracks so far.

Info: Hit Kuss, Mosquito, skied the East ridge/face then climbed up London. The Wave skied from the summit and was a ton of fun. Hit it a little too late but not dangerously late. My friend George and I both hit 99 13ers with this one!

Info: Parked at the turnoff for Mosquito pass (1.5ish miles from turnoff towards London, normal winter area). Road is pretty well packed down but slushy. I used snowshoes until I hit the ridge. The ridge itself is mostly dry, with no need for traction or flotation.

Info: climbed london and Kuss on the 2nd, best winter weather i have ever been out in. london is very dry from the saddle on, we walked the road in the morning, then put snow shoes on at the start of the mine road to the saddle, then ditched them till we went back down. Kuss had a mix of conditions from unconsolidated snow to bullet proof snow on the ridge on the lower section, mostly rock with patches of snow on the 2nd half. 2 of us wore spikes, 2 had crampons, we all had an axe, and the crampon friends lead the upper lower part of the slope as they could kick deeper for us. get them while you can

Info: Started at the second winter parking area (~half mile up from the road split), parking area was clear of snow. Mosquito Pass Road is mostly snowpacked with some dry patches until the 4WD road section where it gets less packed out and snowshoes became useful, we put the on maybe halfway up the hill. Left the road and went cross country, then joined the road after the usual slide paths. On the way down we went directly down from the Kuss-London saddle and you could ascend that way as well. London's west ridge was fairly dry, no problem areas of snow. We stayed low in one section of the upper ridge to not disturb the mountain goats and that bypass was dry. I also added a picture looking towards Mosquito to give an overview of the area.

Info: Played hooky from work and snuck in a summit while the weather wasnt awful this week. Started at the intersection for Mosquito Pass Rd (12) and 696 (Alma side). The road to the winter trailhead is plowed although a thin layer of icy snow remains and 4WD/AWD with decent tires is advised like usual in the high country in winter. Not much has changed since last weeks condition report from Will, although it is worth noting that his trench was mostly gone by our hike. We spotted his tracks every so often but poaching was fairly minimal. Our trench will likely be gone by the time you get to it. That said, I agree with his assessment that the trail breaking wasnt very hard on this route. We wore snowshoes from the beginning on up to the saddle, at which point we switched to spikes. Stats for the day were 10mi and 2600ft of vert, I think Will may have forgot to calibrate his watch when he got 3800ft last week. 7hr 25min car to car for us mere mortals, with a couple longer breaks mixed in. Great route to ramp up your winter objectives, I would place it squarely between Pennsylvania Mtn and the winter route on Mount Sherman. This area of the Mosquito Range is great like that.

Info: Zesty day up on London, it was cold and windy, but conditions are pretty good. I started at the intersection of 696 and Mosquito Pass Rd. Started without snowshoes, a half mile up the road there was a posthole section, but it's not long, I put snowshoes on there, kept them on until the start of the west ridge. Snow was pretty good, trenching was on the easy side both directions. No traction needed along the ridge.

Info: Climbed on 6/23/24, London is in summer conditions and ready to go. You have to cross 1-2 minor snow patches near the mine, but the ridgeline is clear and dry. Hiked in trail runners today. Enjoy!

Info: Climbed the west ridge of London today. Started from junction of 696 and Burke Road. Wore snowshoes the entire way from car to London's saddle with Repeater. London's ridge was fine, if a lot of post holing. Used my axe on the ridge but more for steadying myself with the trapdoors and unseen talus than anything else. Kind of a slog, but a short slog. Stayed more ridge direct so a little scrambling in the first third. Wore snowshoes back down from saddle all the way to car. It started snowing once I got off the ridge and only increased on the hike back down.

Info: Nighttime summit. Left around sunset on a supportable and well-frozen snowpack. Summited around midnight, down around 2 am. Assuming a decent freeze as we had, flotation is not necessary; the crust is very supportable and well consolidated underneath. However, you might want flotation if you're doing this on a warm day with the sun. Traction nice to have but not necessary.

Info: Weather wasn't great today, but conditions were good. I parked where 12 and 696 meet, used snowshoes from there to the start of the west ridge. The snow is well consolidated, no post holing and pretty easy trenching. Lots of snow on the ridge, I didn't use any traction today.

Info: Looped with Mosquito and Tweto. No snow on route, a little damp in places on the road above the lot but nothing remarkable. Ridge has a beaten path most of the way, it fades here and there going through talus fields, but always reappears. Generally right on or just a few feet South (ascender's right) of the ridge. Minor scrambling needed up around the first block noted in the route description, otherwise a typical talus hop.
