7/23/2023 Route: via Mt Sherman SW Ridge Posted On: 7/23/2023, By: PikaSteve Info: Nearly summer conditions. Still need a few flat footsteps on snow to reach Sheridan/Sherman saddle keeping left (south) to avoid central saddle snowfield. On way down, gain a few feet of elevation to go past temptation of central saddle snowfield unless you are comfortable with steep snowy sidehilling or glissading onto a rock landing. Snow-free, simple talus and tundra from Sherman summit to SW Gemini summit. NE Gemini (higher summit) talus was a bit more rugged. As expected, big Sunday crowd on Sherman, but only one other hiker on Gemini. |

6/29/2023 Route: Via Mt. Sherman Posted On: 7/1/2023, By: wolfgangstiller Info: Hiked Mt. Sherman, to Gemini with a few extra miles thrown in. We started at 10:30 and got down at 4 PM. We carried micro-spikes but never felt they would be useful. No flotation needed. Temperatures were in the high 40s on the summit ridge and the high 50s at the TH although our car said it was 63 when we came down. In-spite of the warmer temperatures and still a few snowfields to cross (just below the ridge and again near the summit) we had no issues with post holing to icy snow. On the way down we had a nice glissade from the summit ridge. This looks like it should still be in good shape for a while. |

6/10/2023 Route: Sherman-Dyer Connection Posted On: 6/10/2023, By: madmattd Info: Initial large snowfields (that are easily knee-deep in places) from Sherman down to near the Sherman-Gemini saddle, patchy snow (rarely more than a couple inches deep) from there to the saddle between the 2 Gemini Peaks. Solid in the early morning (7:30/8ish), softening notably by 9:30/10 but I still only postholed once or twice, generally sank 2-3". Spikes were perfect both ways. Similar conditions on the Gemini side of the Gemini-Dyer saddle - deeper snow higher up, shallower down low. The SW Gemini peak has a good snowfield you can use most of the way up. The main NE peak had a nice snowy ramp about halfway up the summit cone that was easily spotted from the saddle and provided a nice gentle wrap-around to the NE side, where a short rock hop brings you to the summit. I watched a couple hikers try to climb directly up the steep loose stuff from the saddle and they knocked a few rocks loose - it's far better conditions to do the wrap-around. |

8/21/2022 Route: From Dyer Posted On: 8/22/2022, By: CheapCigarMan Info: From Dyer we headed to Gemini. The traverse over is narrow with a clear rock path. Once off the traverse over, finding the center trail that leads to the saddle is easiest to ascend. There is a clear and spectacular trail that descends the ridge. |

8/14/2022 Route: Iowa Gulch Posted On: 8/15/2022, By: kwhit24 Info: Started from Iowa Gulch and the whole route was straight forward and nothing more than Class 2. When returning from Peerless I just contoured above the grass under Sheridan to the Sherman saddle and returned to the car via the West slopes route. One comment about this descent is that it turns into slick gravel in more than a few spots so it can be tricky if you're trying to move quickly. Met one person on Dyer, 2 going up Sheridan, 3 going to Peerless, and about 50+ on the Sherman route ha (11.39 mi; 4,301' gain; 6:32:47 total time) Start at TH 5:50am; Dyer Mtn 7:00am; Gemini Peak 7:45am; White Ridge 8:50am; Mt. Sherman 9:40am; Mt. Sheridan 10:45am; Peerless Mtn 11:20am; Back to TH 12:25pm |

7/26/2019 Route: Via Sherman Posted On: 7/26/2019, By: dwoodward13 Info: Summer conditions. Wildflowers on the saddle were spectacular. Summit pitch is steep and almost all loose. |

9/9/2018 Route: From Mount Sherman Posted On: 9/9/2018, By: supranihilest Info: Not a whole lot to say about Gemini except that it's quite a distance from Sherman and it's rather steep - steeper than it looks. You might find some Class 2+ climbing on Gemini. Be careful not to pull down a huge, loose block onto yourself, since that's all Gemini is comprised of. |

11/20/2016 Route: From Dyer Posted On: 11/20/2016, By: Trotter Info: Maybe 1 inch of snow in some spots. Ascent of final summit is steep but short. One of the biggest and best windbreaks on summit I've ever seen on a 13er. |

6/18/2016 Route: South Slopes from Mt. Sherman Posted On: 6/19/2016, By: miniarmstrong Info: Completely clear and free of snow. Great way to extend the hike from Mt. Sherman summit. The ascent involves some fun class 3 scrambling on mostly solid rock. |
