7/13/2024 Route: From H / Upper Piney Lake Posted On: 7/14/2024, By: Laxer04 Info: We backpacked into Upper Piney Lake for the weekend. My strava logged us at 8 miles from Piney Lake to Upper Piney. The trail past Piney Falls is not maintained and is one of the worst trails I have experienced. The trail is hard to follow at times and there are countless downed trees along the route. This slowed us considerably. The mosquitoes are horrific past the falls and all the way up to Upper Piney Lake. It was unbearable at times and our weekend long backpack quickly became a one night trip. Because of this, I opted to skip doing the Ripsaw (+Black BM/H) and just go up H/Black BM from Upper Piney. Snow is completely avoidable to reach the ridge just below the summit of H and the ridge is completely snow free over to Black BM. It looked snow free on the west side all the way across the Ripsaw to Peak C, for that matter. Saving that for another trip |
