7/6/2024 Route: from peak X & Y Posted On: 7/6/2024, By: Laxer04 Info: We started at Pitkin Lake TH, went over Usable pass, went up Peak X/Y and over to Z via the ridge. XYZ traverse? The East side of Usable Pass has a ton of snow. We glissaded down using axes and spikes. Dry up to X and the snow on the traverse over Y to Z is mostly avoidable. We descended into the upper Boulder Lakes area which has intermittent snow. On our way up Usable Pass we avoided the snow by staying towards the north side and we were able to get over the pass without having to go up the snow, which was nice. |

8/15/2023 Route: From usable pass Posted On: 8/16/2023, By: yaktoleft13 Info: From pitkin creek trailhead, ascended up usable pass, ran x'xyzz' ridge (may have missed y on accident oops), descended from z/z' saddle to upper lakes, went back to usable, then ran vista/solitude/climbers point ridge. Descended grassy/talusy slopes back to trail. Managed to bushwhack through a wasp's nest trying to get to usable. Usable is well named: it's usable, but certainly not fun, convenient, or enjoyable. Route is completely dry, other than 20' section of snow dodging the cliffs at low point of y/z ridge. Xyz is probably stiff 4th the way I did it. Possibly the crack up the hidden slab to the right of the obvious one on x' was low 5th. The vista/solitude/climber's point ridge has a bit of scrambling, but is much more of a hike. 17 miles, 8100 feet, 13 hours car to car. Awesome and unexpected to run into Natalie and Shawn (Sean? Shaun?) up there on a random Tuesday! |

8/8/2022 Route: XYZ traverse from Pitkin Lake TH Posted On: 8/8/2022, By: Wildernessjane Info: Did XYZ traverse plus Z Prime today. Somehow we managed to keep dry feet all day. Stayed on the Pitkin Lake trail for as long as we could and traversed high above the marshy area. Did not encounter mosquitos until the end of the day heading back across this section and they were not bad at all. My partner lost her sunglasses on the traverse (on the descent of Y) so please be on the look out for these. Also, no paper in the summit register. |

7/18/2022 Route: Boulder creek Posted On: 7/18/2022, By: SnowAlien Info: The swamp (aka Gores) delivers once again. Endless bushwhacky approach without views, lack of wildflowers compared to other areas, tons of deadfall, gazillion creek crossings on sketchy rotting logs and a million of hungry mosquitoes. 9 hr RT just to see the upper lake and no summits. Will update after round 2. |

7/17/2022 Route: Usable Pass/Peak X Posted On: 7/18/2022, By: hr011242 Info: No need for traction on east side of Usable Pass as snow can be avoided if preferred. West side is dry. The rest of the route is clear or has the option for short, casual glissades. |
