6/19/2025 Route: Via Hoosier Ridge Posted On: 6/20/2025, By: jaba9631 Info: Summer conditions all the way up to Hoosier, with one significant snow patch on the traverse from Hoosier to Red Mountain. I did it in just boots, but spikes/traction would have helped. Lots of loose/unstable rocks above this snow patch, and still some snow on the peak but otherwise a great addition from Hoosier Ridge |

6/14/2025 Route: Selkirk/FSR801 Posted On: 6/14/2025, By: dwoodward13 Info: Followed below TR for an excellent off the beaten path to get this group. Road was easy to follow most of the way up Red Peak. Easy traverse across to Hoosier. Couple snowpatches from Hoosier to Red Mountain, one of which I broke out the microspikes and ax for. With how wet the snow is I doubt you'd start sliding, but the slope off to the west is pretty steep and goes a looonng ways down. I personally would want both for the next couple weeks until it melts. Way down from Red into Horseshoe Basin was something. Snow was terrible. You could avoid a lot of it by weaving. The willows toward the bottom were also pretty bad. At one point I resorted to just walking in the creek itself, my shoes weren't getting any wetter! During actual summer this would be a lot more enjoyable. https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/tripreport.php?trip=17364 |

6/7/2025 Route: Via Hoosier Ridge Posted On: 6/7/2025, By: Laxer04 Info: Mostly summer conditions up Hoosier Ridge from Hoosier Pass, but there are a few unavoidable snowfields right below the summit of Red Mountain. Spikes and axe came in handy, but not needed. See the photos. Summit register is in good shape with a working pencil Hoosier Ridge, Red Mountain and Red Peak made for a fun day. Strava logged me at ~12 miles 3800ft of vert |

6/15/2024 Route: Via Hoosier Ridge Posted On: 6/16/2024, By: bangerth Info: I didn't actually make it over from Hoosier Ridge, but wanted to report an awkwardly located snow field that in all likelihood will still require crampons and ice axe (see picture). The snow field on the lower saddle can be bypassed on the right, but the second one can not and from different angles looks both reasonably steep and with a very long slide down on either side of the ridge. |

2/10/2024 Route: Via Hoosier Ridge Posted On: 2/10/2024, By: Will_E Info: Hoosier Ridge and Red C from Hoosier Pass today. Quite a bit of snow until about halfway up the slope to the ridge, I was in snowshoes from the highway until that point, the willows were particularly juicy. The ridge was holding snow in places, but it was pretty firm. Nothing difficult getting to Hoosier, there's one steep snow slope near Red's summit I wish I'd brought an ice axe for. Booted up okay, but the last 6-8 steps the snow was pretty firm and was tough to get a kick step in. On descent I used micro spikes for that section (it was all I had with me), got down okay, just a little sketchy. |

12/17/2023 Route: Via Hoosier Ridge Posted On: 12/17/2023, By: sarahmariekirk Info: Climbed Hoosier Ridge and Red Mountain today - pretty great conditions, minus the gnarly wind. Very minimal snow; we did not bring snowshoes or need them. Brought microspikes but we did not use them. Red is starting to form a cornice on it, but can bypass it for now. |

11/12/2023 Route: Via Hoosier Ridge Posted On: 11/12/2023, By: Rampaging Baloths Info: Traverse from Hoosier is easy to follow albeit due to the tundra and talus more tedious than I expected. The white rock labeled as the crux on the route description for the traverse is interesting. No need for spikes or crampons or an ax. Just required some minor scrambling on the junky talus and then some relatively sketchy trapdoor postholing on the snowbank above it up to my thighs to get to the above ridge to finish the traverse. Doable for now. But not sure whether this will become a problematic slab or a much easier snowbank to ascend as time goes on. |

5/28/2023 Route: Via Hoosier Ridge Posted On: 5/28/2023, By: Danger_D Info: Hoosier Ridge itself is mostly snow free, but from the saddle to the summit of Red Mountain is snowpacked. Snow was supportive but soft enough I didn't put on my micro-spikes. Pic is from the summit of Hoosier Ridge |

5/7/2023 Route: West Ridge Posted On: 5/7/2023, By: Camden7 Info: Lower trail has deep snow drifts but dry stretches make skinning a tough proposition. The route from 11,800 to 12,300 was pretty well covered, fun corn in the afternoon, The ridge above 12,300 was mixed snow and rock/grass. Mostly skiable, but probably not skin-able... the breakable crust was a b*tch to bootpack. |

4/1/2023 Route: Via Hoosier Ridge Posted On: 4/1/2023, By: kyrawhitworth Info: Once we left the trees (flotation needed there), we got by without snowshoes despite some wind loading up in one spot (spikes were fine). Long day adding this to Hoosier Ridge. Thankfully winds subsided a bit on Red. |

10/6/2022 Route: Via Hoosier Ridge Posted On: 10/7/2022, By: Jay521 Info: Very little snow (and easily avoided) once starting up from the saddle with Hoosier Ridge as of 10/6/2022. One needs to be a little careful of the white rock band as described in Bill's route description but it really wasn't all that bad and goes quickly |

7/9/2022 Route: Via Hoosier Ridge Posted On: 7/9/2022, By: madmattd Info: Clear and dry from Hoosier Ridge. The steep talus band halfway up from the Red-Hoosier saddle looked worse than it was, the big blocks were mostly stable and went quickly. |
