Treasury Mountain

Peak Condition Updates

Route: Yule Lake Trailhead

Info: Summer conditions, with no snow or ice. I concur with other conditions updates that dropping back to the trail after descending Treasury is better than trying a higher line.

Route: East Ridge from Yule Pass
Posted On: 7/4/2022, By: Grover
Info: Started at Paradise Divide and the Yule Pass TH. Snow free on the hiking route, and where there is snow up top, there is no need to engage it. Warning: After a short distance, the hiking route on what is the south flank of Cinnamon Mountain is badly washed out. It is passable and doable, but there is a section ~12-feet long that is now nothing more than squishy dirt the equivalent to brown sugar. The rest of the route is narrow through the talus for 0.6 mile, then the talus subsides and you pick up the better trail to Yule Pass. The right turn to go up the wide shoulders of Treasury Mtn. is obvious, and there are even two options. A steep jaunt up these wide shoulders lead you to the narrowing summit ridge, which comes as a fun, spicy finish.

Route: From Paradise Divide

Info: From Paradise Divide we took the Yule Pass trail underneath 12er Cinnamon Mountain and hiked up to the saddle between Treasury and Cinnamon. Yule Pass trail is very loose, eroded in spots, and is quite exposed for being a trail, so be light on your feet. The remaining route up Treasury's long southeast ridge is loose but easy til the summit ridge which narrows dramatically and becomes rather exposed compared to the entire rest of the route. The rock is solid and it's only Class 2 but it's a big shift from hiking up miles of scree to solid, exposed, low-angle slabs. Incredible views from Treasury's small, spectacular summit. We continued on to Treasure Mountain by descending part of our ascent route and dropping into Yule Creek drainage, so see my CR for that peak for details.

Route: Yule pass

Info: Straight forward up Treasury, dropped back down below ridge into basin, then up Treasure. Probably best to avoid difficult looking ridge if continuing on to Treasure

Route: SE Ridge

Info: Ascended the SE ridge from near cinnamon mt, super mellow and straight forward, with some climbers trail visible. Attempted the traverse to Treasure only to be stopped by a 40ft class 5 section on horrible rock that was not inspiring. So returned over treasury and descended the direct south ridge to Yule Pass, which makes a good decent, not recommended as an ascent.

Route: SW Slope to SE Ridge
Posted On: 7/9/2020, By: Flyingfish
Info: Dry and any snow is avoidable. SW slope might be the worst thing I have ever climbed. Loose, steep, and 1000 feet of BS.
