Route: Judd Falls/Copper Creek

Info: Dispersed camping is banned in the Gothic Corridor June 15-August 15. https://travelcrestedbutte.com/wp-content/uploads/Gothic-Corrdidor-camping.jpg The only campground near the Judd Falls/Copper Creek trailhead is Gothic Campground, which only has 6 spots and fills up quickly. The nearest legal dispersed camping I could find was the Mt. Crested Butte Campground. https://crestedbuttenews.com/2019/07/camping-available-in-mt-crested-buttes-backyard/ It has 26 spots and is free with a porta-potty. There is no tree cover since it's just an open field, but at least it's full of beautiful sunflowers. My Hyundai Ioniq easily made it to the Judd Falls/Copper Creek parking area.

Route: West Ridge from Queen Basin

Info: Dry all the way up. On the Copper Creek trail go one mile past the creek crossing to an overgrown avalanche path and stick to the side of it near the forest. It's much easier than bushwhacking up through the trees. Once at the top contour around the toe of White Rock's west ridge, ascend the basin on boulders (more stable than it looks), and ascend a grass ramp to a large notch past a few very large and gnarly looking towers. The remaining climb is steep Class 2 and Class 2+ on boulders with a small amount of possible Class 3 right out of the notch. The top 150 feet or so is steeper and looser than the rest.

Info: Went up the BM first and traversed down the BM to the saddle between White Rock Mtn & BM, then up White Rock Mtn. There's a lot of bushwacking & the coming off BM to the saddle is steep and super loose! I wouldn't do that again. White Rock was pretty easy until the very end which it was basically a sand castle with lots of awful choss. Good views but a considerable challenge for me!
