Info: Great hike today! 4WD road to TH was gnarly, but going slow and smart in any small SUV should be OK. We made it in our Mercedes Benz GLC. Most vehicles in lot were pickups, but there was a Subaru Crostrek. Hike was straightforward, we completed the round trip in 5 hours and 50 minutes, leisurely pace with lots of photography and 40 minutes on the peak.

Info: Nice hike on 7//27/20 Standard route. Well marked trail the entire route. The views are outstanding! Not too crowded and very friendly crowds.
If you are considering the Lulu route, I took a photo of the traverse to Huron.

Info: Perfect weather, blue sky no wind. Started at 8:15 from 2WD lot and made it back to the car at 11:15. Very busy on the entire route, more popular than I thought considering the distance and relatively long drive from the Front Range.

Info: 4WD road from Winfield is pretty dicey after all the recent rains. The only cars we saw at the upper trailhead were pickups, Jeeps, high-clearance SUVs, and one Outback. The worst of it was right after the road narrows ~1/2 mile in, so if you can make it the first 3/4 mile, you can probably make it all the way.

Info: Great day for a climb to be sure! Ascended via Lulu Gulch and descended via the standard NW Slopes. The final pitch to the summit of Huron is getting pretty worn and the dirt can be quite slippery, but all in all, it's still in pretty good shape.

Considering there was probably close to 50 people climbing the mountain (and it was a Wednesday!) the overall heavy traffic on the mountain is taking its toll. On my descent down the standard route, I saw a lot of indication of poor trail etiquette where people avoided patches of mud and the like, which is causing significant trail degradation.

Info: Yes... I did hike Lindsey and Huron on the same day. After finishing up Lindsey, we drove all the way from the trailhead of Lindsey to Huron (~4 hours). After setting up camp 1.5 miles from the trailhead, one of our friends made a joke about just not sleeping and just hiking right then (we were planning on a sunrise summit). So after somehow convincing ourselves it was a good idea, we set off around 9:00 PM. Made it to the summit around 11:45. Was able to see the entire Milky Way galaxy as well as the NEOWISE comet. Although hiking entirely in the dark isn't extremely enjoyable, some good tunes and beautiful clear skies made the trip worth it. Made it back to the tents just before 2:30 AM, making for a long day of hiking and driving.

Info: Great morning to summit Huron ... Mostly.

Camped about .25 miles.from the top of the 4wd trailhead. Drove my stock 01 Cherokee up there w no issues. Two spots that require a little skill, but you'll figure them out.

I say mostly because the trail was packed, summit had about 6 people on it when we got there and 25 as we were leaving. Kid threw a decent size boulder off the summit. I picked up snack wrappers on the trail (and refused to pick up toilet paper and two bags of dog shit). People on the summit talking on speaker phone and other hiking up the trail w loud walkie talkies blaring.

C'mon folks. Where's the trail etiquette? We're all out trying to enjoy nature and get some exercise. No one wants to hear your loud convos, your speaker phone, or see your dog shit bag on the trail.

I know I'm sounding grumpy, but c'mon. We should be better than this.

Luckily I've got most of the easy 14ers done and the rest of my list should be less crowded ...

Info: Trail was great and area was as gorgeous as promised. Now for the fun (terrifying) part: I had a mountain lion encounter shortly after reaching the basin around 4:15am. I'm a short-ish human and was on my own so was not thrilled to see this kind of cat, particularly because we weren't far enough apart for my liking. Fortunately the feeling was mutual and he ran off after I raised my arms and started yelling (though this didn't stop me from doing a 360 scan with my headlamp every 3 seconds until the summit/sunrise).

Actually had another run in with a mountain lion 2 weeks prior when I was with a group of 4 doing the Wetterhorn/Uncompahgre combo. I'm one who would prefer not to see them, so hopefully this is the last encounter (at least that I'm aware of)!

Info: Perfect day on Huron Peak. Sunny and very little wind. Trail is in excellent condition. Only two sections that had very small trickles of runoff but you could easily walk over or through them without getting wet. Camped at the Clear Creek/S. Winfield Trailhead. Plenty of camping spots along the 4WD road into the trailhead.

Info: Busy day on the mountain. Descent took longer than expected due to stopping for people coming up hill. It's a little muddy in spots but otherwise no issues.

Info: Summer conditions. Snow is completely avoidable. The distance clocked by garmin was higher. But maybe I follow a different path!
I took a stock jeep wrangler thru 4wd trail with no issues.

Info: Definitely summer conditions. Great hike. 4WD road is no joke. I made it 3/4 mile short of the trailhead in a chevy equinox. I might've been able to make it all the way but it seemed a little too questionable to test it out. Higher clearance is definitely ideal. Great hike overall tho

Info: We had perfect summer conditions. Little snow and mud in the basin, but very minor. Some of the trail coming out of the basin has running water, can be slick on the rocks but nothing unmanageable. The 4WD road is driveable up to the TH, but recommend a higher clearance vehicle, managed it comfortably with a 4Runner.

Info: It rained at the trailhead overnight so there was a lot of snow heading up to the summit, which was bootpacked and icy on the way up and becoming slushy on our decent (~10:30am).
