11/27/2023 Route: Northwest Slopes Posted On: 11/27/2023, By: rachel Info: Started from Crags trailhead. 1 degree this morning! It stayed pretty cold all day but not terribly windy until it picked up this afternoon. The trail is mostly snow packed. No other hikers all day. The new summit visitor center is really nice. I enjoyed warming up inside and eating $8 chicken noodle soup. Lots of visitors from the cog railway and drivers. |

11/12/2023 Route: Northwest Slopes Posted On: 11/14/2023, By: sdicenso Info: Just went to treeline for an afternoon hike. More snow than the previous weekend, but there was a trench. The new powder was really sugary though and not very consolidated. Some bare areas though. I did wear my spikes in case. Came across a few hikers who summited. One said he postholed a few times. A couple took the trail above Devils Playground, but all took the PPH down as the highway was closed to traffic. |

11/3/2023 Route: Northwest Slopes Posted On: 11/4/2023, By: 181jen Info: We were looking to do a 14er close by with less traffic, so we did Pikes yesterday. Wind was forecasted to be 20-30 mph, but it was off. It was a beautiful day with a slight breeze, perhaps 10 mph wind. We arrived to the Crags TH at 7:30 am, and there was only one other car there. The trail is mostly packed down or wind blown, so never needed spikes. I didn't know the road is open year round, so expect road noise. If you can ignore it, this peak is beautiful. This is my 3rd summit. Super fun to do this in winter and probably less than half the traffic. In total we saw 2 other people hiking the trail. |

10/27/2023 Route: East Slopes Posted On: 10/31/2023, By: lilfinjen1568 Info: Craggs trail all clear through the forest but once in the open the wind chill was down to minus 10 little snow on the route until you reached the last boulders which were slippy with ice, 40 mph gusts makes hard going. |

10/16/2023 Route: East Slopes Posted On: 10/16/2023, By: natemacfarlane Info: Beautiful day! None to little snow the whole route. Walked through a couple very avoidable patches of ice but never put on spikes. |

10/14/2023 Route: Northwest Slopes Posted On: 10/14/2023, By: wanderlust073 Info: Nuisance snow after Devils Playground. Spikes prudent descending the boulders - very slick in the morning shade. Overall very easy hiking still. |

10/9/2023 Route: Northwest Slopes Posted On: 10/10/2023, By: Curleyjo67 Info: Absolutely beautiful!!! The trail was quiet. Snow and ice made for great photos!! Didn't use microspikes at all, but had them just in case. Definitely took longer than I had thought, but beautiful! 4260 ft climb, 14+miles. |

10/7/2023 Route: Northwest Slopes Posted On: 10/8/2023, By: SwissHam Info: Patches of snow just past devils playground. Microspikes were not needed for us. Just had to be cautious in the last mile near the summit but 95% of the snow can be avoided or is a non-issue. |

9/28/2023 Route: East Slopes Posted On: 9/29/2023, By: Ronsammons Info: Clear, dry and no snow. The weather is fantastic, if not a bit warm. Group of six with all summiting. |

9/28/2023 Route: Northwest Slopes Posted On: 9/29/2023, By: Molasses Info: Summer conditions until about 13,500', then small patches of snow start showing up... all avoidable. Currently, no need for micro-spikes. Amazing weather... sunny, unseasonably warm, and barely a breeze. |

9/24/2023 Route: Northwest Slopes Posted On: 9/25/2023, By: dreamwarrior Info: There is some snow for approximately the last 500 ft elevation gain on the Northwest Slopes, which is a little icy at few spots, however it's completely doable without spikes. We didn't bring spikes and had no problems. There are rocks where you can step on. If you are a beginner, bringing microspikes can give you more confidence. |

9/23/2023 Route: East Slopes Posted On: 9/25/2023, By: Marcos Info: Trail is snow free to the summit. Aspens are just beginning to change. Water is still flowing at the normal spots -- no need to carry more than a liter at any point if you've got a filter. |

7/22/2023 Route: Northwest Slopes Posted On: 7/22/2023, By: Hiking_TheRockies Info: Summer conditions on trail up from Crags. Y Couloir (from what we could see looking down into bottomless pit) is pretty much a melted mess at this point. Couloir at the top was still holding snow, but it's a very thin stretch and there is a big sheet of ice at the couloir exit. Not sure if the bottom/middle of the couloir still has snow. Tourists galore. |

7/15/2023 Route: East Slopes Posted On: 7/17/2023, By: sumansirivella Info: I summitted it on 7/15. The trails are perfect but there are a lot of flies and bugs. There is a little bit of snow on the side of the trail in the last one mile. |
