5/17/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 5/17/2026, By: SloanerBroner Info: Went up with girlfriend for her first 14er starting at 5am, made it up past treeline with no issues at all. There was very little snow around until up around 13k where there were plenty of snowfields that were definitely navigable without spikes, but we still used ours anyways. Summited around 10am, back to the trailhead by 2pm, made quite the long day out of it to not rush her too much. Upgraded girlfriend to fiancee on the summit 😎 Definitely has thawed out after that snow storm a couple weeks back, plenty of people on the trail, and nobody had any issues making it to the summit. Quandary is good to go again, go and get it! |

5/15/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 5/15/2026, By: daway8 Info: Don't believe the other conditions reports for this peak - everyone is totally sandbagging the difficulty of this peak. After somehow surviving this grueling trek I checked GAIA and found the stats came in at a staggering distance of over 438,000 inches traveled and the elevation gain was beyond the computational abilities of my equipment, having surpassed 1 million millimeters of gain! I'm estimating that the summit rose to a height of over 4 million millimeters. Once I reached a height of over 3.5 million millimeters I arrived at a section of trail that was so heavily loaded with incredibly treacherous snow that it should only be attempted with crampons, ice axe, ropes, belay partner and a minimum of 10yrs of extreme alpine climbing skills. Ok, actually the snow section only lasted about maybe 10ft and has so many steps kicked in it that even your grandma could handle it - but isn't this a far more interesting Quandary conditions report than normal?? Seriously though, didn't reach semi-continuous snow until about 12,800ft. Some people wore spikes but I did fine without due to all the tracks and semi-soft snow. Shout out to Sydney snagging her 5th 14er and the 3 guys in their 70's on the summit (rumor has it they were teenagers when they started up and have been wondering around up there ever since...) |

5/11/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 5/12/2026, By: ENGERB82 Info: East Ridge trail was in great shape up to about 12,500 and then unavoidable snow to the summit. Pretty firmly packed in most places but sunk in more as you ascend. We hiked in the afternoon. Weather was stellar. Micros were helpful on the descent. |

5/10/2026 Route: North Gully aka Quandary Couloir Posted On: 5/12/2026, By: jpacheco1982 Info: Snow was a little unconsolidated in spots, more so at the bottom third. Overall conditions were ok. Brought snowshoes but did not need. The snow was continuous from apron to end of the couloir. Around 12700 elevation there was the choke section that was about 45 degrees. There were multiple exit options, we took one of right sided exits that was 50-60 degrees. The traditional left sided exit was somewhat melted out with exposed loose rock. |

5/9/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 5/9/2026, By: hellmanm Info: Went up Q today and enjoyed the sunny slopes. Snow present/unavoidable for most of the hike above treeline, with some spots in the trees as well. Doable without flotation, as it's fairly tracked out, but spikes/traction were helpful in a few spots. |

5/1/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 5/1/2026, By: beervendor Info: Broke trail up to 12.5k following this week's storm. Solid new 8-10" to treeline and beyond. New snow hides a few slippery spots (including the giant widowmaker step just off the forest rd - damn near killed me coming back down) plus lots of invisible scree and steps beyond the trees. I did mostly ok with poles, shorts and gaiters, no spikes. Snowshoes def not required. Tough first day of the 2026 fourteener season, but the suffering is the point, isn't it? |

4/29/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 4/29/2026, By: theolubke Info: Mostly snow covered above 13k feet. Microspikes helpful. Flotation not needed as there are trenches and depths are not greater than 4-6 inches. |

4/25/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 4/26/2026, By: notacclimated Info: Full summer conditions. Small patches of snow but nothing big enough to require spikes. |

4/19/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 4/19/2026, By: madmattd Info: Minimal snow depth on most of the route, and a good bootpack throughout. Snowshoes are completely unnecessary, and I didn't see anyone with them today. The summer route around 12-12.5k' is good to go, there's barely any snow on that slope to be concerned with avy-wise. Icy in the morning below treeline, generally nice pack above treeline. Softer on the descent with warmer temps and sunny skies of course. The shoulder at 13.1k' is bare, but otherwise snow-covered above treeline on the trail, variable coverage nearby. Spikes were helpful on the descent in places above treeline. Near treeline is getting pretty muddy in spots, a few well-placed stepping stones would be great to help encourage folks to stay in the trailbed, but otherwise full late-Spring conditions there. Talked with a couple guys that came up Cristo, they reported it is in with a few short bare stretches and variable conditions in the upper half that hasn't fully consolidated the recent (meager) snow just yet. Saw a few skiers out, the lower half of the upper bowl looked reasonable (below ~13.6k'), the upper half has a snow-covered line but it looks pretty thin. In the trees is pretty dry too so the non-skier in me says you have to be pretty dedicated to bother right now. |

4/19/2026 Route: South Gully aka Cristo Couloir Posted On: 4/19/2026, By: JerJerBinks Info: In there like swimwear. Definitely a little bald on top, but it was like that last time I climbed it too. Variable conditions throughout. Pitter patter |

4/17/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 4/17/2026, By: deitchnn Info: Started the day off at 7:30 it was partly cloudy. Got to above tree line as a snowstorm rolled in with high winds. Made it to the peak at 2:15 definitely needed spikes / snowshoes. Was able to ski east face although there were rocky patches. Unfortunately nothing else is skiable even with constant snow fall (estimated 3-5 inches throughout the day) recommend waiting until snow melts to go up, it was kinda crazy! |

4/12/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 4/12/2026, By: slowtoad Info: Got to the parking lot @ 9:30AM on Sunday, lots of open spots Patchy snow above 13K (which you can just walk around), otherwise smooth sailing. My runners have lugs so I didn't HAVE to put on micro spikes, but plenty of people had them on towards the top. |

4/12/2026 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 4/13/2026, By: MikesOnTheWayUp Info: Trail was pretty good going up, there are a couple of snowy parts below the tree line so definitely bring waterproof boots. I was very happy I had gaiters on as well. Going down was a little more hazardous, there’s a decent stretch of rotten snow just before the summit that I avoided on the way up by swinging right about 20 feet but going down there’s no avoiding it. I regretted not having spikes on for the descent but it was manageable. Overall I’d say you can hike this without any special equipment right now but be careful on the descent! 10/10 views from the top, the range looks incredible right now! |

4/11/2026 Route: South Gully aka Cristo Couloir Posted On: 4/11/2026, By: 14er101 Info: Continuous, albeit thinner than most years, snow from 12100 to 13900. Nice soft turns dropping in at 945. |
