Fourth of July open?

Post by Ecocrazy »

Anyone know if Fourth of July road is still open? Surprised I can't find that online, but I can't, and I'd like to head up there before the offices open tomorrow. Thanks.

There are numerous trails that set off from the campground/parking at the end of the road. I took a peak at those trails on AllTrails and the Diamond Lake Trail had someone post from yesterday 10/19 that they had a great time: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail ... lake-trail. Of course that doesn't mean the road is absolutely open all the way, but they didn't make any mention of issues. The Boulder County Road Closures for Motor Vehicles ArcGIS maps also don't show anything looking closed there: https://bouldercounty.maps.arcgis.com/a ... d63f282fa/

It looked bone dry on the Indian Peaks yesterday so no snow impact to road closure. USFS doesn't list road status but Boulder says it's open. Most winter road closures are Dec 1 after all the hunting seasons.

This storm entirely missed the northern Front Range. Mt. Audubon and the south side of Mt. Meeker look to be entirely dry. I ran the High Lonesome Loop last weekend and the Hessie trailhead was crawling with people. Plenty of cars going up to 4th of July too.
