Gerry Roach

Post by mike offerman »

Looks like this was Gerry. Sounds like he is improving in the Durango hospital. 5 broken ribs, a broken nose, right lung collapse, head and face lacerations and contusions and a concussion.

Hoping for a speedy and complete recovery and a big thumbs up for San Juan county S&R.

Have a speedy recovery, Gerry! You've had so much to do with me getting into the Colorado 14ers, way back when I bought your book on them in 2000.

Recover quickly Gerry. The peak bagging community is thinking about you and Jennifer this month. And Flat Top is waiting!

Holy smokes. I was up on V8 just after this happened, ans was camped at the trailhead as helicopter and ground operations got going. Wish I’d known what was happening. Thinking of Gerry and Jennifer 😳

Yep. His wife made some comments on a Silverton Rescue FB post I saw.

Silverton SAR's press release

Glad to see his prognosis is good. The entire rescue effort was incredible. This photo from the press release shows the steepness of the area pretty well - I can't even imagine how difficult it was to negotiate a helicopter rescue up there.

I have never met Gerry but as many have, I have followed in his footsteps for many years on so many peaks. So thankful he is recovering and thankful for the search and rescue teams heroic efforts! Heal up quick Gerry. Praying for you and your family
