Climbing Partners for California 14ers
Hi,
Looking for Partners for Russell, Split, Williamson, Tyndall and Middle Palisade. Times and dates are flexible, between June 17 and Sept 10.
I am an experienced climber (Class 1 to 4). Have only done a handful of class 5 climbs. But have done over 95 14ers. I am in great shape, can go about any speed. Just finished the Boston Marathon.
Looking forward to finding hiking friends.
If anyone knows of a forum to find California 14er partners, that would be great. Respond to this with a link.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Climbing Partners for California 14ers
I’ve done all the other CA 14ers and only have Williamson & Tyndall left. Was on shepherds pass last summer and got stormed off. Caveat: I hike slow but have a lot of experience in trad, ice and snow (also have my WFR). Was planning on going solo so don’t mind sharing camp and going separate paces.

Keep the massive Sierra snowpack in mind when making your plans. Split will be more pleasant, while crossing the Williamson Bowl through endless sun-cups will suck. You'll probably want ice axe and crampons for everything but Russell.

Re: Climbing Partners for California 14ers
I just saw your posts here. I am planning on climbing Williamson and Tyndall in early September and have a permit for two people (one extra) for entering via Shepherd Pass on September 7th. I’m new to this board as I am in Oregon, but am experienced (Cascade volcanoes and others, all state highpoints, some CO 14ers, etc), 60, in good shape. I’m planning on breaking up the approach and taking maybe 3-4 days total since the trail starts so low, but that will likely depend on how things go.
Let me know if you have any interest.

Re: Climbing Partners for California 14ers
My Williamson/Tyndall trip got shut down as the Shepherd Pass trail and access roads were closed by damage from Tropical Storm Hillary (backpacking climbing in the Wallowas of Oregon as a Plan B). I will likely try again next year in late August.

Looking for anyone to climb California 14ers with. I have done Whitney and I'm going to continue with Langley, Shasta, White MTN, Whitney Mountaineers Route + Muir, Russell, or any of the Class 3 peaks. I do not have anyone to do this with so if you are at all interested, please message me on here. You can also text my phone number at 818-522-8701

Keep me in the loop. Williamson high priority, only peak missing from my list of highest-20 in lower-48. Would consider repeating White and Shasta if someone is looking for a partner.
Can we be sure that road damage will be repaired by summer? Repairs in Death Valley are taking forever, interfering with my plans to repeat Telescope Peak, one of my favorite ultras.

Re: Climbing Partners for California 14ers
I'm thinking about Split, Williamson, Tyndall, and Shasta this summer. Probably drive out from Denver in July and sleep in my truck at Shasta and Split then pack into Anvil for a few days for Williamson and Tyndall.
I really havent found any place better for CA 14er info than here. The Whitney portal board is fine for Whitney/Russell info but thats about it. http://www.mountwhitneyforum.com/
The CA Mountaineering Facebook groups might be of some use as well.

Re: Climbing Partners for California 14ers
I'll also throw my hat into the ring here. I still lack the entire Palisades Group, Middle Pal, Split, Tyndall, Russell, and Muir. Am fine going solo on some of the easier of these but definitely would want a partner for anything roped. I have extensive scrambling experience and have done a handful of class 5 peaks including the Grand though I'm not a lead climber. If anyone wants to try to coordinate in the next few summers, feel free to drop me a PM!
