Griffith Peak, NV in winter
Has anyone summited Griffith Peak near Las Vegas in winter? What weather to expect there?
The only thing better than mountains are mountains to which you have never been!

Yea. Cool climb. Expect a lot of snow and temps in the teens/20s.
There is avy risk off the slopes to climbers left of the summer route if you choose that route up (meaning the gully/ravine) . Expect some route finding once the snow starts as there is a good chance you'll be the only one climbing that day.

Another great hike in the Las Vegas area is Wilson Peak. It’s a great scramble. Fantastic views and very challenging.

While on this topic... anyone have other good peaks nearby they'd recommend that have accessible trailheads in winter that aren't too technical and can be climbed by others that don't have technical skills but ok in snowshoes? Charleston is probably a bit much for a day hike in winter...

Moapa? It's mostly a desert hike from the Interstate, with a final class 3 traverse to the summit, and probably drier than Charleston.
