As the parent of a sar volunteer, I sure am grateful to those folks for their willingness to not just drop everything and go when they get the call but also for the hours and hours of training they do so that, when the call comes, they'll be ready to answer it.

I've climbed bierstadt a bunch of times and yet I still managed to get off route up there last spring. I had plenty of daylight and was able to get myself back onto the right path after some bushwhacking thru trap door snow in the willows but it's certainly not difficult to imagine how things could get sideways on a seemingly easy mountain. Thank goodness things worked out the way they did for the hiker in the story.
Where ever you are... There you are.
