Ruel Creek Basin, Hidden and Lost Lake Area in San Juans
Has anyone every hiked E to W through this basin in the San Juans? Trying to see how feasible it is to traverse from the Lake Fork/Rock Creek Trail to the Vallecito Trail.

Thanks, maybe if I spelled it right I would find it
This:
"If you can't find a trip report of somebody descending Roell Creek or Irving Creek, don't do it. The terrain in the Weminuche can be much worse than the topo suggests."
And this:

Very helpful...

I believe Boggy B went that way for the UNs (Irving?). Would check with him

In summary, my Irving Creek variation isn't a hit. Sounds like Roell is worse.

What are your objectives, Mason? Rock Lake does not get too crowded and if you’re intending to hike several of the 13ers around it, it’s a great base camp. A good trail leads to the bench above the south side of the lake, which then becomes the starting point for peaks to the south or the west.
I have phenomenal route-finding abilities. Specifically, I have an uncanny knack for selecting the path of most resistance.

Steve/Alex,
Thanks for the info. Not much of peak bagging trip. I'm still working it out, but I'm focusing in on doing a backpacking style loop from Highland Mary Lakes TH, down the CT/CDT. Camps around Beartown and Flint Lakes. Maybe a day hike up Mt Oso or Mt Soso via Rock Lake. Then up Rock Creek back to Beartown camp. Return via CT and Highland Mary Lakes Trail. Seems like a pretty scenic/chill trip... Here's a pic of the route. S via the right side of the loop, then N via the left side of the loop, if anyone cares

That looks like an incredibly beautiful backpacking trip… I hope you’re able to make it happen next summer, and look forward to the trip report!
