Fall Foliage 2024
I didn't see a post for this yet this season. A lot of us plan our September climbs around peak Aspen times so I'd love to see reports on the progress of fall colors around Colorado.
I'll start. Did a few peaks around and including Elbert yesterday (9/8) and most of the Aspens were solid green. A few confused patches were turning early but not many.

Re: Fall Foliage 2024
I was in RMNP Sep 8-9 and saw some tree color there, maybe 10%-20% turned. That felt about 10 days earlier than usual.
In addition, there are still wildflowers up to 11,000 feet. So there hasnt been a serious freeze yet.
Interestingly, electronic signs says the park was closed Sunday night, but you could still get in. They was a serious auto accident by the 36 Visitor Center, closing that entrance for a while.
[edit] Denver Post reports on car chase across Trail Ridge Road that resulted in this accident. I think I was on TRR a little before this excitement.

Lots of pockets of yellow, orange & a few reds up on Engineer & Cinnamon Passes. COLD mornings.
Re: Fall Foliage 2024
Kenosha pass this weekend was about 5% turned. The southern sawatch was about the same.

Re: Fall Foliage 2024
There is already quite a bit of color on the east side of the Weston Pass road, including some nice red aspens. I drove over Kenosha Pass this afternoon and almost nothing had turned. I was surprised at the difference between these two areas considering how close together they are.

The alpine loop area in the San Juans are turning. Even some yellow blazes here and there this early in
Re: Fall Foliage 2024
Sept. 14: Things are starting to turn along I-70 between the tunnel and Copper Mtn. The few stands of aspens along CO-91 from Copper to Fremont Pass are showing a lot of yellow, but still a fair bit of yellow-tinged green too.

Drove over Berthoud Pass this afternoon. Some spots of good color, but mostly still green.

A decent single grove right now along Herman gulch.
And whole rest of the area is starting to fire up. Still mostly early but the colors are underway.

Thanks for the updates y'all. If anyone knows of good spots up at the northern end of the state that'll be great! ( Fort Collins residents trying to avoid I70 traffic)
