FYI: Sierra Trading Post return policy

Post by Dave B »

Just an FYI - Sierra Trading Post has changed their return policy so that they no longer accept used items for return / exchange.

This was news to me yesterday and it seems they sneaked this one under the radar as the clerk at the Fort Collins store said they've dealt with quite a few unsatisfied customers who were unaware of the change.

Either way, caveat emptor. Still some good deals to be had there, I guess.

Lots of changes since the TJX buyout. I used a pair of shoes for 3 miles on my treadmill at home. Never even wore them around the house, just on the treadmill. When I went in to return them the sales guy gave me a hard time about them because they had been used on the treadmill to check the fit. I used to buy a lot of stuff at STP but, particularly in 2016, they've lost a lot of my business because they've effectively raised prices by offering less substantial coupon code discounts and because of their inflexible return policy.

Bet their profits are up at least a % or 2 though...

Thanks for the heads up! It's sad... they were my go-to source for most of my gear when I started getting into hiking/backpacking, but between stopping/reducing the awesome discounts and now this, I'll be looking primarily elsewhere in the future.

And the Bargain Barn in Cheyenne was removed. Saddest of all days. They are full blown corporate now.

They've also been sending out confusing letters about changing their marketing and not offering all the sales. A friend on here and my mom got one, I have not. But that friend also seems to have been blacklisted. He made a lot of returns. He can't get them to send their sale/coupon codes anymore, but I still get the discount emails several times a week.
