Tent Poles

Post by Wentzl »

Found a sac with tent poles today while hiking from the Avalanche Creek trailhead to Geneva Lake near Lead King Basin. Very remote area, not much traffic (just one black bear), but did not appear they were there too long. I did pack them out and happy to reunite with owner if possible.

Looks like they're for a Big Agnes Tiger Wall tent (I have the same poles).

These poles (actually one complex piece) will be donated to the local thrift store unless anyone here wants them.

Is a thrift store going to have a use for those without the rest of the tent? Might be better off making an art installation with them at the trailhead.

It would be better to see if a store that sells tents wants the poles. Think Bent Gate, REI, etc. Years back, I needed to replace some tent poles, and REI let me look through its spare parts bin until I found what I needed.

Two excellent suggestions, thank you.

I will drop them off at REI next time I am in Junction.

Might also be worth phoning/emailing the White River NF office to see if anyone called about some missing poles too.

Response from NF office:

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for reaching out. I have not received any calls here at the Aspen office regarding the missing gear. I have emailed our Wilderness Manager to see if they have received any calls regarding the gear you found at Geneva Lake. I will reach out if I hear anything from them. Thanks again!

Best,
