Dispersed Camping near Sneffels Blue Lake TH

Been to the Blue Lakes in the past but now I've decided to make a go at Sneffels and camp out near (within a couple miles) the TH during the summer. I have an overlander so not worried about roads, etc. Just needed to know if there are any NF areas nearby that permit dispersed camping. Years ago when I was there someone did have a camping trailer set up in a field...not sure if it was legal or their land. In anycase that was well before I purchased my overlander and it wasn't even a thought at the time.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Approaching the Blue Lakes Trailhead from East Dallas Ck road, once you cross over into forest service land there is a sign that limits camping to 14 days. I have seen cars and trucks set up camp on just about every level place between the forest service boundary and the trailhead. Seems like still open season for dispersed camping for now. Get it while you can, I understand new permitting system coming soon. Others here will know more about that.
